Compared to other boards I’ve been, I think this place is pretty well moderated to be honest.

You're pretty cool as a realgm mod but smartwentcrazy and smitty all but killed that board.

Theres a reason they arent mods anymore

I don't know what was so significant to him, but I'd like to find out. Right now I'm left to project that it is something to do with being openly Jewish and the social history of being silenced and disappeared. But that's all I've got to work with.

A Saints fan came into the Love You Saints thread to give a questionable defense of the Saints involvement in a priest/molestation scandal in New Orleans. @Patjew called him out for it and, in my opinion, was justified. A lot of the facts did not hold up upon further review and I also called the Saints fan out for it. Another poster was concerned that all Catholicism was being attacked as “evil”, which I don’t think was what Patjew was trying to say but had used the word to describe the church (but I think he was just referring to this particular incident and not writ large). At that point a mod noticed this thread was headed in a controversial direction, locked it, and deleted everyone’s post dating back to yesterday. The entire thing happened in like 30 minutes.

Icy had already shut down a thread earlier today about the Saints scandal, so that it was shut down was not surprising to me. I think Patjew was upset because he felt very strongly about the issue, as most people would when these sexual abuse issues come up. I think he may have felt like he was being silenced, and I think the mod just wanted to get rid of the entire discussion altogether. There were 4-5 posters involved in the discussion. When it got closed, I was trying to respond to a couple of posters.

The mods here are cool. It’s not easy moderating a bunch of middle aged men whining like children. But they do their best.

This board is far too heavily moderated, and the general censorship has gotten ridiculous. We were specifically promised that this wouldn't happen. And now the over-moderation may have driven away the least confrontational, and most deliberately friendly, poster it has/had.

This doesn't happen on a well moderated board.

Also, @Patjew and @LJRomanoff , I've found that when you message @Ian directly with an issue, he is quick to address it.

Ian has always seemed like a good and reasonable admin and considering how some people behave here the mods have quite a lot of patience.

I’ve been on a number of forums where mods were far far more strict and quick to suspend over small ass things. That does not happen here.

I had a post deleted IN THIS THREAD. And all the post said was that there should be clearly defined and understood rules instead of mods deleting things simply because they disagree with it. How is that worthy of deleting a post?

I just hope @Patjew doesn’t leave over a discussion with this guy, RoboTurner. The guys is annoying as fck, sniffing around this forum for any slights about the Saints and then flipping out. He was on here a month ago to cry that there are a bunch of “Brees haters” and then returned to cry about it when Brees didn’t make the NFL Top 100, like we were the ones who voted. Then he came back to cry after Brees’s embarrassing choke and essentially wished a heart attack on me because I’m “full of hate”, like I’m the one who personally caused Brees’s choke job again (that discussion got deleted.)

And then today he came back again looking to pick a fight because he is just looking for validation that the Saints are the poor, persecuted victims, while reminding everyone 800 times he roots for the Patriots. So his post was very ridiculous and set off Patjew, since it was more about RoboTurner’s mental issues and appeared to discard the damage of the molestation scandal, whining about how the poor Saints are so hated and it’s unfair.

I'm the one that posted about catholics being called evil, but:

1. Only made one post;
2. Didn't take patjews post personal;
3. Don't think his or anyone elses post should've been deleted;
4. Certainly didn't snitch to the mods.

That seems to be the problem. There's several cliques here and if you call out a poster in one of these cliques, a snitch reports it to a mod, even if the post doesn't violate any rules.

I mostly try to post humorous posts, being sarcastic, using play on words and even bad taste. I've had dozens of posts deleted. No idea why. Forum is full of sensitive snitches. And this will get deleted in 3, 2, ...

The worse part about having your posts deleted is you get locked out of that thread. At least that's been my case. You call someone out, he snitches, post gets deleted, you don't find out until you go back on that thread but you can't post. The snitch, he stays, even when he's a troll. Whatever.

I don't understand why this is happening in the main forum. The mods definately have it tough because there's clearly posters that don't like each other, a little bullying going on, whatever. I haven't seen anything that serious though to call for all these deleted posts.

Abso-freaking-lutely. I’ve been on overly moderated forums, under moderated forums, and moderated and admin’d myself. Compared to all of those Patsfans is pretty freaking good. Admittedly I’ve made plenty of posts recently that could have easily been deleted yet they weren’t.

And in summarizing what happened today I was not implying that venecol’s post had anything to do with shutting the thread down. It was a well-written post making a great point about religions. There wasn’t any animosity. @Patjew and @venecol are two of my favorite posters and both very intelligent and reasonable.

It was just shut down right around the time he posted it but I think coincidentally. As I said, the Saints Scandal has already been shut down this morning as out of bounds when @Triumph tried to create a thread on it. I think a mod just noticed the Saints Scandal talk in the other Saints thread and napalmed it.
