Antonio Brown Update

It isn't valid in the way he argued it. It is valid that in general wide receivers are overvalued and not the most important part of an offense. It is not valid that having a guy with the talent of Brown (or Jones or Hopkins) makes the team less likely to win a Super Bowl, cost aside. He did not present it as an economic/cap argument but as a ridiculous idea that having an elite wide receiver means you can't win a Super Bowl. In light of this being a likely sunken cost, the idea that after signing Brown, we'd be better off with a $9M cap hit and a ham sandwich than a $9M cap hit and Antonio Brown, was absurd. And yes, it really was that ridiculous.

Not what I wrote. I wrote DIVA WR's don't win SB's very often. A great WR who is a team player is no problem. When was the last time a DIVA/me-first WR was on a SB winner?????

The Patriots had far more problems than just the WR position, which WAS a weakness. The coaching staff lost 5 important pieces and was inexperienced and thin - situational football suffered as it hasn't since the 2009 season. 6 OL's either retired or were IR'ed before the season. Develin/TE situation turned the offense into a light/finesse squad and Brady is not physically able to be a QB on the run these days. So, YES, the team needed better WRs. But they needed a team-oriented WR who wasn't walking stink bomb with a camera.

And, to your last point there - - yes!!!! The ham sandwich would not have been a NEGATIVE to the team.

BTW, I applaud AB for locking himself in his house today. This way, no one else can get hurt. That's the very first prudent decision he's made in 12 months. Let's hope he follows it up with a phone call to a crisis hotline.

You STILL don't get it.

I don't care what he does off the field either.

Belichick has said repeatedly over the past 20+ years (and I know this is news to the folks who became Pats fans recently) the the most important thing he looks for in a player is whether football is his #1 priority. Because if it isn't, he doesn't need to waste his time with him.

Antonio Brown has proven ONE constant time and time again ever since the Burfickt hit 3 years ago regarding the order of his priorities. Even Tomlin and Lt. Jack Kearney
Steelers security chief's dual roles debated could no longer handle him anymore.

This past season, the Raiders couldn't and the Patriots couldn't either. He's not of the NFL Universe - - - he is in a different existential plane. If you cannot understand what he is acting out every single day the past 3+ years, then you are ripe for every scam artist who comes to your door or calls you on the phone to sell you the next winning pennystock.

But you keep being you. You're perfectly free to get cheated by scam artists if that's your goal.

Hard to get cheated if you’re paying next to nothing. Gordon didn’t work out either but noone would say we got cheated on it since he was on a cheap contract.

If football was his top priority, he would be on a team right now.

What don't you understand?

.

I understand that he got blackballed by the NFL team owners and kept out of football for spurious reasons.

people who are still arguing for AB on the Pats are classic blind

its clear to everyone y'all are way off, just accept it by now lol

He wasn't blackballed by NFL owners, IMO.

Seattle was interested in AB after we cut him.

New Orleans brought him in to update their emergency lists.

He would be on a team if the NFL wrapped up its investigation....side note...why the hell does it take the NFL that long to investigate something? They interviewed the trainer in Florida...and Brown went to some depositions.... I think Goodell should just hand down a suspension like 8 games, but contingent on reduction 4 games if he seeks professional help.... Then the market for AB would heat up somewhat....

Either way, I don't see the Pats, Raiders, Steelers, and Saints interested any longer....and it would need to be one of the other 28 teams with a structured locker room......dunno...I think AB is done with the NFL....I mean the man needs maybe 4-6 months of professional help, then file an appeal, meet with Commish, have whatever suspension reduced, stay out of trouble, quietly resign with some team...and STILL stay out of trouble...

The odds of that happening is slim to none, IMO.

Biffins, AB is a NEGATIVE. The sooner you understand that, son, the sooner you understand what 90+% here now understand.

Looked pretty positive in that one game he played. Actually I’ll go watch that first drive in Game 2 again. ahhhhh the memories......

The biggest miracle is how Mike Tomlin of all people managed to keep him on a roster for years with a good level of production.

The guy is obviously not playing with a full deck (pun intended).

This year it will be either Tyreek Hill or Emmanuel Sanders. I guess I would need a list of "DIVA" receivers since that seems quite subjective. Plenty of showy, presumed sketchy WRs have won Super Bowls in recent years.

Plaxico Burress, Santonio Holmes, Doug Baldwin, Percy Harvin, Emmanuel Sanders. Is Deion "pay me or trade me" Branch also a a diva? Alshon Jeffrey, Demaryius Thomas, Anquan Boldin...are these guys "not divas" because they won a Super Bowl?

You actually wrote that Brown was a main reason the Steelers didn't win a Super Bowl while he was on the team. That's utter nonsense.

Pointing to 2019 Emmanuel Sanders as an example of a superstar WR on a Super Bowl team is like saying we had an MVP quarterback in 2019. The 49ers invested very little in his roster spot.

No, he's moved the goalposts. Now he asked me to name a DIVA who has won a Super Bowl, not a superstar.

This is where the hit from Burfict theory may come in, because there’s no way in the world that he was getting away with acting like this for years in that locker room full of dumbasses.

Julian Edelman like jumped up and down on some limo in Beverly Hills a couple weeks ago for no reason. They're all kooks.

He was drunk, that’s a reason. Not a good one, though.

You're running out of schtick. The material is getting stale and irrelevant.

Let's hope he comes out of that house alive and that no one else is hurt also.

That was just a sloppy post by you, Ice. Deion Branch a "diva"????? Wow. Perhaps you didn't follow the Patriots back then........

The guy had a handicapped child and huge bills for his son's healthcare. He was never a "diva". Notice Belichick had no problem in bringing him back a few years later. None of those other WRs listed are anywhere NEAR the "King of all media" that AB has been trying to be for 3 years. Nowhere close.

Go ahead, Ice. Let's hear the similarities between any of those WRs listed and AB. Which ones went into personal tirades against their QB and teammate WRs on social media? Which ones choked their GM? Which ones threatened to retire over their football helmet? Which ones posted video of themselves celebrating and "flying free" when he got cut by his team? Which ones did any of those things and more like AB did. I'll wait.

The sad truth that you still can't comprehend is that AB had multiple opportunities to get back before the season was over with another team this year - - if only he had some impulse control EVEN AFTER the Pats cut him.
