Well...since they play each other ONE team must lose...I think that both teams lose one is almost automatic....

If Buffalo beats both the Jets and Miami on the road (hardly a shocking development), then they are a home win over the Bengals away from ruining our early clinch.

That's cool, but this team's goal is not just to win the division and make the playoffs, it is to win the Super Bowl, and to give themselves the best chance to do that they need to win the #1 seed during the regular season.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, the Colts are still tied with us (at least in the loss column) and if we lose to them on 11/4 we may not achieve the #1 seed even if we win the rest of our games, as it is certainly not beyond the realm of possibility for the Colts to go 8-1 in their remaining games (not counting the one against us).

So, not to look ahead, but the Colts game is HUGE as they are clearly the ONLY team in the NFL who could knock us out of the playoffs - and if they have home field they will have a much better chance to do so.

I applaud your calculating this for us. But I question your findings. For example, how exactly will the Pats clinch in week 10 by beating Buffalo when they play Buffalo in week 11?

If that Pats win their next two they would go into the bye at 9-0

If Buffalo loses the next three they would be 2-7

One of those losses would have to come at the hands of the Jets giving them an equal record of 2-7 as well.

So Mathematically they would not be eliminated by week 10.

However, their very next win would clinch the division. Had Buffalo lost this weekend against the Ravens that Pats could have clinched by week 10. It would mena the Bills would have to beat the Jets and so on........

But that's water under the bridge and I'm just happy they look as nasty as they do. These are fantastic times to be a Pats fan.
