OT-ish: The gambling thread

Waited too long to pull the trigger on Dal and had to buy 1/2 a point to get it back to -3.

Ok all I need now is for Dallas to force a 3 and out every time the Bears get the ball for the rest of the game and I'll look like a genius.

I realize my fnordian is a bit rusty but those two posts seem a bit contradictory. Maybe something lost in translation?

I put money on Dallas -3. The Cowboys scored so I was making a stupid 'ok no more scores pls' joke.

I'm also really tired due to having a rough day of work and being huuuungover so who knows what I could be saying.

If you like Dallas in this one then why the 1/2 point buy? Seems like you'd have been happy at -2.5

Bovada had them at -3 1/2. It was -3 earlier in the week but like a genius I waited.

IDC what the prevailing wisdom is, I loathe -3 1/2

The good news is if Dallas keeps playing like cacadoodoo it won't matter that I bought a 1/2 point

Ahh, now I get it. It's one of those regional linguistic things.

I just give books my money they don't seem to care what I say or how I say it.

Learn me some better gambling talk, willsya?

Isles just won it in OT.

Bruins score 3 in 3rd to force OT.

Pasta tripped in OT with no call leads to a 2-0....Chicago and refs ruin this bet.

I thought Pasta was tripped too but he wasn't. Replay clearly shows he lost his balance to give up that 2 on none

Fudge the fudging cowboys those fudging fudgers.

lotta mud ducks heard quacking their way out of Chicago stadium last night

I thought they would finally bounce back this week, too. What a pathetic performance.

Yeah he was pushed down a bit but at the time I was yelling trip..then the goal so for 30 min I shut the laptop and just took a walk.

The one team that I didn't think would ruin that was the Bs. I thought the Rangers would be the one

Given the way the two teams had been playing going into that one the B's certainly seemed like the strong pick.

There was nothing about that game I liked, it was just a crap shoot

Outcomes are one thing but I really think the Bears are trash while the Cowboys are mediocre. For me it was one of those bets where I can't blame myself. Just didn't play out that way.

That’s what I told myself too, but in hindsight Maust is probably right. We took a mediocre (at best) team on the road and got burned in a big prime time spot. Oh well—moving forward.

I hope you guys didn't take my post as some kind of admonishment, that certainly wasn't what I meant to convey. I generally expect to get some action on the Thursday game, particularly when I think the home team has a chance since the HFA is insane on a short week. I posted a few days ago that I wouldn't touch that Dallas game with someone else's money, never mind my own essentially because I had no faith in either team. I really just honestly didn't like a damn thing about it. The line sucked and the O/U was at a crappy 43.5 in a game that could easily have been anything from a field goal battle to a blow out. Certainly a 20-17 outcome seemed more likely than 31-24. Chicago had put up more than 20 once in it's previous 6 games and that was against the depleted and woeful Lions and Dallas allowed 30+ only once all year. But put two Jekyll & Hyde teams together and...
