Patriots trade 7th rounder to Falcons for TE Eric Saubert

So, with the Watson suspension, we're going to have to play the first 4 games with less than ideal depth at TE. I figure that even with sub-optimal TE's, we can win 3 of the first 4 games:
Pittsburgh Steelers
at Miami Dolphins
New York Jets
at Buffalo Bills

We'll lose in Miami . . . just because
Agree. Izzo is getting some pretty strong reviews for his run/pass blocking. Seeing how they may run the ball a bit more this year its seems he has a good chance of sticking.

One thing of note with TE Eric Saubert he passes the eye balls test he's also very athletic can he put it all together?? It doesn't take much to get to the Top of Patriots TE dept chart. Ryan Izzo looks like a slug in the passing game his blocking stands out in the running game though.

The Titans have accumulated 8 TE's. We have practices and a game this week with them. Maybe Bill and Mike will make a deal...we'll see.

Other than Walker and Smith the rest are Absolute trash nothing to see there.

Watched my Son playing Madden 20 the other day against Miami and Dwayne Allen:rolleyes: made a 20 yard catch. I want to return the game right now because they said it was realistic.

would love that

Unless the Titans are CB or WR starved that's how we could work out a Trade for him especially. That said I doubt it I think he's there clear cut #2.

He’s still on PUP and may not be ready for week 1.
Yea just saw that. Kind of puts the kibosh on that. I’m still holding out hope for Cameron Brate from the Bucs.

Mo Alie-Cox or No Alie-Cox?

He played a fair amount of snaps in the Dolphins Falcons pre season game. He's #85, has tattoo's on his left arm and a black sleeve on his right arm.

From what I saw:
Bull rushed by Tank Carradine until he stumbled and fell to the ground on a pass block.
Drops a low ball but catchable. Decent route? I don't know. Not an expert. Dropped a ball though!
Allowed Terril Hanks to toss him aside on a run play who then makes the tackle on the run play.
Puts effort in his blocks at least. Tries to fight but gets out leveraged.
Didn't react in time for a snap and the defender got inside of him easily.
He played in-line on most of his snaps but not a good blocker. Didn't do much in the receiving game. Caught one ball on a scramble checkdown.
Played on kickoff unit, punt unit(lined up at long snapper's left), Punt return(Interior Rusher)

My initial take on him is that he sucks. Can't block, doesn't offer much in the passing game but at least he tries hard. So maybe with the right coaching something can happen? Definitely a flyer.

What did you think BB saw in him then?

Probably not much more than what Wheelman saw in him...but these are desperate times...

He puts effort into it? Maybe he offers more in the passing game than I saw/he showed. I read the falcons board and the nutty gazoo guy said he's athletic. I'm only going off one pre season game. But one thing the falcons board confirmed to me was that his blocking sucks.

That's weird I had read an article that said he was the Falcons best blocking TE but had inconsistent hands.

I wonder if during these trade talk the Falcons expressed an interest in Etling, so BB released him at that odd time, knowing that he would have a better shot at making the Falcons team. Or their was some secret tit for tat, ala the SF Garroppolo waive Hoyer trade.
