Hopefully, a mod will see fit to sticky this thread so that we don't have to keep searching for it if it goes off the top page and that the 2020/2021 thread will be locked.

NOTE: I will update the thread with any special roster rules (Opt Outs , IR Change) the league chooses to implement. Something tells me that the league may permanently change the IR rules.

NOTE: OTC has not updated their page with the Patriots Futures Signings as of the morning of 1/6.

Hardly brutal. Who are the absolute must keep people here? The only top-end FA is Thuney. Guy, Butler, White, Andrews, Bethel and some others are all good players, but the only bank-breaker is Thuney. I don't want to use the term JAG because it's insuting and anyone on that list is a thousand times better than I could ever be, but are there really a bunch of players on this list that couldn't be replaced with younger and cheaper talent?

Cam Newton - gone
Brian Hoyer - gone
Rex Burkhead - gone unless he takes an incentive-laden deal...and if he's even ready to play before the season starts (shadow roster?)
James White - gone if someone pays him. Michel and Taylor need to slip into this role.
Damiere Byrd - meh
Dontae Moncrief - Special teamer, so if cheap, maybe
Joe Thuney - Interesting...you want to keep him but at what price?
David Andrews - Cheaper than Thuney, but same problem.
Jermaine Eleumenor - Won't be expensive if they want to keep him.
James Ferentz - Cheap if there's room for him
Marcus Martin - same as above...really liked this pick-up, though. He was once highly rated.
Lawrence Guy - Keep him or Butler or both if at all possible.
Adam Butler - see above
Carl Davis - cheap if you want him
John Simon - probably gone. Looked toasted this year.
Shilique Calhoun - same as above
Dietrich Wise - hard to find a spot for him, I fear
Brandon Copeland - gone
Jason McCourtey - probably retiring.
Nick Folk - shrug
Justin Bethel - like to keep him around, but he won't be that expensive
Cody Davis - no idea
Terrence Brooks - gone unless cheap. Adrian Phillips and Kyle Dugger are ready to rumble.

Just as an Aside. This thread is usually limited to the transactions that occur.. Not what we want to happen.. There is no harm in copying what I posted and starting a New thread regarding Pats Free Agents and who you'd keep.

@DaBruinz - thanks so much for doing this each year.

I know from firsthand experience that it involves an incredible amount of time, far more than most would imagine it does.
The hardest part is always the INITIAL post. Having to break out the FAs from the players still under contract. But having sources like OTC and Twitter make it easier to do.

Thank you, though. It is appreciated. Just like we appreciate @Ian for all his hard work on the site. Without him, we wouldn't have this.

One correction: per Reiss, Virgin is not an RFA; the Pats already signed him for 2021, as well.

Just checked OTC, they have changed it to note that Virgin is on the 2021 Roster. I have corrected the initial post to reflect this.

It should be noted that Rashod Berry, Michael Jackson, and Cassh Maluia ALSO were given contracts for 2021 when they were signed to the "53". OTC updated the Pats page to reflect this and so have I.

Think most of them are replaceable. Thuney, Andrews, Guy, Bethel, Davis are the only ones I would like to keep and Thuney probably too expensive.

I'll start moving those posts over to the thread below, to keep this thread clean.

FYI - The Patriots did not decline a tender for Caleb Benonoch, Isaiah Mack, Jake Burt, and Jordan Steckler. As of now, they chose not to sign this quartet of former practice squad players to futures deals.

Thank you for the correction @Miguel . When I wrote "Pats declined tender", I was referring to them not receiving a futures deal.. I have corrected the terminology.

Just made a new thread for 2021 roster opinions, speculation and wish lists.

Please leave this thread for actual Pats transactions.

Thanks ... I will move the above commentary to the new thread.
