Although many posters have penciled in Wynn as the starting LT from day one, an Achilles tear is a very serious injury. I found an article about football players that suffer from an Achilles tear, and it said that about 28% of all players never return from the injury, and the mean time to recovery is about 340 days, which for him would be the end of July (I think he was injured August 16th).

Most football players returned to NFL after Achilles tendon repair

So: if he is already participating in pass protection drills that seems like a really, really good sign that he is already so far along in his recovery, and really excellent news. Of course, he is probably younger than most players that suffer this type of injury, so perhaps that bodes well for a quicker than usual recovery.

I wish they would have put up the data they collected for this somewhere. On its own it really doesn't say much because you have no clue how far back they went.

I would be more interested how it looks since 2000 (or maybe later). I honestly don't think data from before that has much value given how medical science has progressed in terms of surgery and also post surgery rehab.

Even from 2000 on is probably too old. Maybe go back to 2009-2010.

Don’t sleep on Maurice.

Since his signing i have been convinced Harris makes the team. Tough, great hands, runs routes and plays special teams.

If Dawson plays as well as Moore this year then I imagine we'll be pleased.

I wouldn't.

One was a 2017 UDFA from powerhouse Valdosta State; the other was from the University of Florida and taken with the 56th overall pick, which Bill traded #117 in the 2018 draft to acquire.

Then again, Bill has set - and continues to set - an extremely low bar regarding 2nd-round DBs, so maybe we should still be pleased I suppose...

If he becomes a quality starter, I will be happy. Is Moore a quality starter? Probably more like an average one.

I was just going for 2000 to increase the sample size. Not sure there are really too many injuries like that every year. But yeah.. ideally you'd want to look at most 10 years back max.

Says who ?

Most of the beat guys are calling him "solid for a rookie QB". Hell, even Reiss highlighted Hoyer "making plays" in a recent tweet.

Like can you put up sources when you claim things like that ? Or is that another one of those cases like your "I can prove my point with video evidence" that you keep dodging.

Ah look at who it is the man who can’t get along with anyone except Bruins29. A pats beat writer tweeted stidham working with second team during pass drills

My opinion is brady is still a great QB but past his physical prime at age 42. Some were insulted by my latter opinion. Sorry I don’t have immediate time to post video footage, I work constant double shifts in law enforcement with little sleep and a family too look after.

Sounds dangerous.

Nick,

Thanks for your service to our community. I can attest that he works in law enforcement even though he doesn't know much about football. ;);)

Please point me in the direction of this opinion about ladders. I'm trying to find a good one for house work and any input helps.

Auto correct hasn’t been too kind to me lol

But I do know a good place

Luuked is a great poster.

You are a negative poster who is goes off the rails anytime someone challenges you on anything.

I guess its true they will let anyone own a gun.

You know nothing about me, my personality, how I got my job, or the type of job I do on duty. I do get the sense you have a pretty strong opinion on law enforcement in general. I don’t know what to make of your “gun” comment but it’s petty.

Back to grandstanding with your buddy Luuked! Going on almost a decade!

100% agree. Got insulted for that opinion also.

It isn't light reading, but here is an article with some more recent statistics, they studied 80 NFL players as having primary Achilles tendon tears between the 2009 and 2014 seasons.: Factors Affecting Return to Play After Primary Achilles Tendon Tear: A Cohort of NFL Players

The conclusion is: "We found that 61.3% of NFL players were able to successfully RTP (Return to Play) at a mean 11.90 months following a primary AT tear.......Players who returned displayed a significant decrease in the number of games played in the return season when compared with seasons preceding injury. However, when we examined >1 season following return, AT tears appeared to not affect ability, as there was no significant difference in pre- and postinjury number of games played or started. Our findings suggest that players may return to preinjury performance levels if given the opportunity."

Basically it says that players returned a mean of 11.9 months after the tear, but they played significantly less games the first season after the tear had healed than the season before the tear. But, there appears to be no adverse affects in the second and subsequent seasons after the tear.

So: because most NFL Players play way less the season after returning from this injury, I would argue that it is to be expected that Wynn will start slowly this year and probably miss time. I'm not being negative, I just want to try to head off the posters that will start calling him a bust if he doesn't immediately play like an all-pro from the start of training camp. However, happily, according to this article there really should be no adverse affects the second season after his return, so he should be completely full strength in the 2020 season. Hopefully because of his young age, he will recover faster than most players that have suffered this injury and be a major contributor by mid season or so this season also.

100% agree. Got insulted for that opinion also.

It’s ok. I usually just like to read now instead of post. Although I do enjoy bringing comedy into the gameday threads. We all get so emotional and passionate and say funny things.

Some of us aren’t football Xs and Os experts. We are just big time fans. But doesn’t mean our opinion counts for anything less

You know I haven’t missed a Patriots game since Atlanta 30-17 loss in 95. So excited for the season

So this basically means we should be all over a trade for a competent OT right now considering we can't rely on Wynn to start the year. Of course we have little cap space to work with.

  1. How many MPH has Brady lost off his passes?
  2. How many yards has he lost off his deep ball?
  3. How many more millimeters/centimeters/inches, feet is Brady missing by, on average?
If you two don't have answers to those, and similar questions, you're just talking out of your asses, because last year's receiving corps was a big drop from the year before, so the "my eyes tell me" argument, coming from someone outside of the team, doesn't hold any water.
