Well, guess we won't be getting him.

I would say that is as good as can be expected for Arizona, probably good for the Pats, Jete & Jills and quite bad for the Fish.

I guess they are scrapping their "Tank for Tua" plan.

Pats are going to wipe the floors with this guy. Can't wait!

If true, it's a great move for the Dolphins. If I were the Pats, and really wanted Rosen, I'd offer #56 and another pick to sweeten the pot. Worst case scenario you force the Dophins to up their ante and cost them another draft pick. That's if the Pats really want Rosen.

Viable is the operative word, at least in that offense...
Well if he isn’t a viable backup you won’t get anything in a trade.
Also I don’t know how you go from unanimous rating of 1st round qb to not a viable backup in 12 months of playing pretty much a similar level to the jete qb of the future.

Give them one of our 3rd round picks.

He's still got a cannon arm. He'll have better coaching here and can be Brady's understudy.

Neither Rosen nor a lack of Rosen is going to save them if Kyler Murray bombs.
So they don’t need a backup QB for their injury prone starter? Or are you saying their franchise qb pick 12 months ago doesn’t belong in the league?

Rosen doesn't make sense because he only has 4 years left on his rookie contract. So if the Pats do pick him up, by the time Brady retires (IF he retires in 2 years) Rosen would be entering the last year of his rookie deal, which is never what you want, because you only have one year to decide if you want to lock him up long term.

The same thing kind holds for anyone the Pats would draft this weekend.

Brady says he wants to play til he is 45, I think he is a definite for at least another two years, so what really make sense is to wait until next year to find Brady's replacement.

Look at it this way....

If Brady goes down, the Pats are screwed anyways, so might as well "suck for Fromm (this year) or Lawrence (next year)" if that happens. Hoyer comes with a $1.5 cap hit if he is cut. All of that adds up to another year of Hoyer as the back up, and Ettling on the PS. Any QB taken say tonight would require you to cut Hoyer, take the cap hit, and he still would only have at most two years remaining on his contract when Brady retires.
You want the defending SB champions led by the 6 ring GOAT to tank the season for a draft choice? Really?

If they want Rosen they'll get Rosen if they don't then that'll tell you everything you need to know, and if he does go to Miami all aboard the Will Grier train.

I just followed the Cards in order to unfollow them.

Who's even left to take Lock? San Diego? I'm not a huge fan but I'd take him at the end of the 2nd.
At some point every team will have him near or at the top if their board as a backup. QBS get hurt. A lot.

Brady's going to be 42. If he plays until he's 45, and only until he's 45, Rosen can be tagged at that point, if no extension can be agreed to. So, it works out fine.

This is also a problem if they draft Grier as he's already 24. If Brady plays as long as he intends, Grier will be nearly 30 before he's a starter.

Well even though most of us want him for a 3rd, if he goes to the Dolphins he's bum and we are going to crush him!! :)

I would take a flyer on Rosen, but I wouldn't spend a mid second round pick for him though. I was thinking with most of the bidders gone, the asking price might go a complete round below it and a mid third rounder.

I feel a mid third round pick or below is a crap shoot. But a mid second round pick should be a starter. So I wouldn't give it up on Rosen because I am not convinced he will get his head out of his arse.

Any QB taken in this draft replaces Etling, not Hoyer. Hoyer is Brady's backup for one more season and then he retires/gets another backup job somewhere else. I'd be in favor of drafting Ryan Finley to replace Hoyer starting in 2020. You are correct I think in believing that Brady's replacement is not in this draft.

Maybe we just don’t like him. I don’t think we were actively discussing any deals with arizona. If we were truly interested you gotta think we could beat Miami’s deal with all our picks.

Young was 30

If Grier starts at 27 years old I see no issue with it. Sitting for the majority of the rookie deal is the bigger issue imo.

I don’t understand the logic. Since we won’t offer more than anyone else, we don’t like the player? What if we like him enough to give a 3rd and 4th and Miami is desperate and gives a 2nd.
That doesn’t mean we don’t like him.

We like tons of players that get traded, we just don’t pay more that we think they are worth because someone else offers more.

Young was 30 when he won the starting job over Montana, but he was starting on other teams at 22.
