Grier or Rosen as QB of the future?

stop sniffing glue...

The next quarterback of the Patriots will be Julian Edelman. Seamless transition and Edelman's QB contract can make up for some of the money he hasn't made as a WR.

I’m not sold on any of the QBs this year. I say wait a year and see if the Pats can con some stupid team out of their 2020 first rd pick.

Was on the bench his first season.
Brett Farve was awful for the Falcons.
GM Ron Wolf's decision to trade a first-round pick for a quarterback with health and character concerns.

Yet somehow, on Feb. 11, 1992, in one of his first moves as Packers GM, Wolf struck a deal with the Atlanta Falcons to get his quarterback.

Grier has been stated to be a very good back up QB. Cousins, whty would we Draft a backup QB?
There are so many smoke jobs about Rosen out there.

I am not this biggest Rosen fan but he is better than any QB in this class (Pats fit). Seems to me Goff was pretty bad year one.He was called a bust.

AZ won't trade Rosen until the Draft. WHY:
They control Murray at this time. If a Team blows them away with a Dallas Cowboy trade of Walker type haul of numerous first and seconds. Plus the Cards do want to hold out until panic sets in for a QB. No reason to trade him now.

The Redskins. WHY?
The Redskins would take Rosen on the cheap, sure. They have more holes than the Pats to fill. Rosen isn't going unset Keenum right away and they are still hoping Smith returns in 2020. They are not desperate. They at least think Keenum or McCoy gives them the best chance to win.

The Broncos. WHY?
I think Flacco is the better option for the Broncos to win now. They will probably opt for Locke at #10.

The Giants. WHY?
Makes more sense than above. Like Brady here, Rosen can sit behind Manning, but Gettlemen is pounding his chest saying Manning is still his guy for a few more seasons.

The Dolphins.WHY?
Flores wants his guy this year or next. He does not want to gamble his future just in case Rosen flops in Miami. He'd be tied to that trade. Plus he has other needs.

The Bucs.WHY?
Jameis Winston that's why. Arians left the Cards on good terms. There might be a "solid" left for him form AZ. Make more sense than many others.

The Raiders.WHY?
Sneaky pick up by Mayock as Gruden is not sold on Carr. He is considering Locke in the Draft.

The Pats.WHY?
Everyone is saying stock up on Draft picks to go to one of the top 2020 QB's. Where does it say any will be better than Rosen? Where does it say invest so heavily you might tweak other positions. Why should the Pats settle on who can be a nice career back-up in Grier? Jones took way too many sacks. What does that tell you? Slow release. TB took about as many sacks as Rosen did when he started.

If we are forced to take a QB this year, I'd look at Haskins in this years Draft. He is falling. Jones will be Drafted higher. Haskins is a one year wonder. I think Jones will be a pick in round one by those Teams above way before the Pats get a sniff.

Riddle me this?....If Brady is done after this year and you had your choice of Haskins or Rosen with one year in the Pats system, who would it be? Just spit ballin Haskins is the last of the QB class to shelf standing.

OK Cousins, here is one that will make you think. What if Mayock dangles Carr to the Pats? He's only 28. Let's say Brady is 2 more years. Carr will be still young to take the reins. He's signed until 2022 at a QB realistic price. Buy.....if indeed TB is out after this year, our pants are not around our ankles.

Would Mayock then opt for Rosen? "Rosen is the best pure passer I’ve seen in several years," said NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock. "He’s on balance on every throw. He’s accurate short, intermediate and deep."

Carr was never a Gruden guy. Rosen would be at the least competition for Locke or ?

What makes him a Pats fit ? And please dont answer this yet again with stats or vague.

I'd rather get Mariota on the cheap. If you can get him to stop taking unnecessary shots his durability issues will disappear over night. He has a quick release and sound decision making in terms of risk assessment. His biggest weakness seems to be arm strength which wouldnt be much of an issue in a McDaniels offense especially because his accuracy on intermediate throws is perfectly fine.

His stats look below average but to me that is a product of him being injured and in bad schematic fits (two years of exotic smashmouth with Mularkey ?).

I am not saying he will necessarily turn into an elite passer here but I think he would fit our offense almost perfectly and add another dimension to it with a handful of designed runs. Essentially he could be what people wanted Brissett to become.

And above all he could be available for really cheap after this season minimizing the risk.

Fair assessment. How would we get Mariotta?

I see Rosen as a better fit in our system. Throws a great ball. He is drop back. He can be a timing QB to get the ball out of his hands....he had to. He is cerebral to the point of aggravation to some. He was in a impossible situation with the Cards. He had 45 sacks. Remember in his first starting year Brady had 41. He fits what the Pats offense is right now. We don't want or expect him to start in 2019. Let Josh fix him.

This QB class is very weak. You can't pin your hopes of "wait till next year" if you have that guy who has some talent. He's as good if not better than this Draft class. we are just stock piling him for now and he is cheap money.

Adversity is good. He had plenty. Should Farve have been judged on what he did in Atlanta? How about Young with the Bucs?

I am more about controlling a QB that could actually start a game now if he had to, with NFL film to dtermine possitives and negatives.

Brady will be still winning Super Bowls at age fifty

Josh Rosen did not improve as the season progressed, he actually got worse. I do not think he has a good future in this league.

You can't compare what he would do with that coaching staff vs ours.
Of course you can compare them. You can hope he might do better in our system, you can hope that our coaches might do a better job, but who knows. There is a good chance he will get better the longer he is in the league, but it is also perfectly reasonable to judge him on how he played last year.

Realistically the Titans moving on after either another injury ridden season or just a below average year for the entire team in general.
