Fauria: TB12 Method Hurting Gronk

Brett Farve used to swill down beer and devour chicken wings after practice while with the Falcons.

The rest is history for the HOFer.

Fauria is, as are the rest of the radio mediots concerned with one thing, ratings.. and today ratings means twitter followers or facebook likes.. content is not the issue but how lemmings go the pig trough of sportstalk radio and believe everything they say...

My eyeball tells me from my big comfy couch that Gronk's back is "tender", and is unable to perform as he has in the past.. it effects his power, catching radius (try stretching your arms when your back is a mess) and blocking ability.. whether that is exacerbated by the TB12 method can be debated, but from what I see says he is very close to the end... not sure the weights would help or hinder.

The worst is Ross Tucker, journalist who played one game at OL, yet consulted with Brady about the game plans for years, somehow.
Yeah, Tucker is a complete putz. Instant channel change whenever he’s on the radio.

Back to the original point.....this crossed my mind a long time ago......whatbworks for a QB may not necessarily work for a TE
Sure but we don't know how closely Gronk adhered to the TB12 program. He was ok last year and injured this year

With that said I do think he's lost some mass

his arms are thinner......I'd bet he's more like 250 now

Fauria is a blithering idiot who is often blatantly uninformed on the one thing you'd expect him to have actual insight into. We'd all be best to leave his ramblings to places other than this board.
Well, that’s one opinion....

Andy Reid needs to get on the TB12.

Andy Reid needs to get on a treadmill. Matt Patricia, who is getting fatter by the second, needs to get on Gastric Bypass.

PLIABILITY - if anything, he's MORE flexible, but I agree, for him as a TE, that's not necessarily better. He seems to have lost his explosiveness and ability to keep churning YAC with DBs hanging off of him. Definitely has lost a step or two, I was thinking the same thing even before I came across this thread. the TB12 is not for a TE like Gronk, or any TE for that matter. It's great if you're a QB who needs to make sure your arm doesn't fall off in the later years of your career, but for a TE, who needs power and explosiveness, rubbing massages and pliability exercises are the wrong training program.

He needs to drop the arm bands and massage bed, in favor of more power & strength training.

If you’ve seen the Tom v Time episodes, you know Edelman is doing a modified version of TB12 that includes weights. They made fun of Edelman for lifting but Edelman was like “No, I’m a WR. I got to do this.”

Hes been fat since the day he was born.

I have a problem with coaches who are fat. They sit there and preach to their players how in shape and in elite condition they need to be and Chumley Andy Reid sits back and eats an entire Dominos in 15 minutes.

I saw that too.

Looks like Gronk is skin and bones.
No question hes not as big.

I buy the need for him to be more pliable/flexible but in my opinion you can maintain mass AND achieve flexibility. I'm not saying he can be Gumby at 270lb but at his position he needs to be bigger than he is now.

....or it could be a situation where the doctor told him it would be better for his spine, joints, tendons if he lost muscle mass?

Weighed 20 lbs when he entered this world

YES.

There is not wrong with lifting weights as long as your frame and supporting structures (tendons, bones) can handle it and you maintain your flexibility.
