Dont'a Hightower on the trade block?

Isn’t Hightower a team captain?

Beyond that, trading him would be a disgusting own goal. He’s one of the best players on the defense at a position that is wafer thin.

If they want to trade him, it suggests he is not anymore. So even keeping him might not be that great. Hightower is awfully beat up.

This would probably be the worst trade in Belichick’s history here without even considering the return.

I love Hightower, but I think it'd be a fairly shrewd move, especially if you get good value in return. The injury risk is a very big deal when you're playing at such a high level as a team that dependability becomes absolutely key. In other words, let's just say we know we'll be in the playoffs. Who cares if Hightower plays 12 great games a year, essentially not improving our status as 'already in the playoffs', if he's not there to help us when we're playing in January? Then we're playing a backup who wouldn't be as good as a lesser starter than Hightower who we can at least depend on.

No thank you. Have you seen our LBs after Hightower?

This is a take that is almost too dumb to believe.

In HT's last full season, 2016, I remember seeing some stats that ranked him as the #1 interior passrusher in the NFL. Think it was based on % of sacks, hits and pressures per rush, or something along those lines.
Along with being one of the best runstoppers in the league.
He was probably the 3rd best all-around ilb in the NFL then after kuechly and Wagner.
And yet, he is still underrated.
Factor in his role as a playcaller on the D and all his intangibles including leadership.
I call ********.
And I love Troy. In fairness, I didn't listen to the video, so I assume it was just some out-of-the-box preseason speculation since we're all bored.
Just ain't happening, unless there's something injury-related we don't know about.

Just for historical context ... he did cut pro bowler Lawyer Milloy ... forum melted down on that one.
I don't think he trades Hightower ... but with Belichick not sure we can ever say never except for Brady.

Dead cap of 2.5 million and cap savings of 6 million.

Maybe Hightower gets traded, maybe he doesn't.

Anything Troy Brown says about it is irrelevant, though. It's a hot take not some major scoop from a guy who is dialed into the Patriots FO.

Trade the whole team. Get it over with...

(Someone clicks "disagree" in 3... 2... 1)

This whole premise is ridiculous

What a weird statement by Brown. I get it that Hightower isn’t reliable. But he’s not that expensive and the LB’s as a group are one of the worst in the NFL.

The Pats are in “win now” mode. They can’t afford to trade guys like Hightower.
