OT: Celtics / Sixers - Series

The Celtics armed with Kyrie & Hayward next year will seriously challenge the Dubs...no doubt in my mind. Hell, I even think this team can make the Finals this year and push the Dubs/Rockets to at least 5 games.

I don’t see it, not without an Anthony Davis level addition. A heathy Curry, Durant, Thompson and Green is just too much for any other team currently constituted to overcome in a 7 game series. You have to hope one of them goes down for the season.

The NBA will make sure the cavs are in the finals although i don't think they're a great team. Call me crazy but I think this team could give the rockets a series if the celtics miraculously went to the finals. Not much chance against the warriors.

Note that I'm a Nets fan and not a Celtics fan so all of these players are my gifts. But I'm more concerned about Fultz than guys like Embiid or Simmons. He seems broken in a way that's going to be tough to fix. It's totally inexplicable.

I hear you. On the other hand, if Fultz can get past it, Philly will have a home grown "big 3"

I do because we are a good team defensively. A good team defensive team can challenge the warriors

Injury led to a lost season. Injury led to lost seasons for Embid and Simmons, too, and they've since shown themselves to be excellent players, so we should keep that in mind.
Forgetting how to shoot led to a lost season.

Like Red said prior to the '69 finals against the Chamberlian/West/Baylor loaded Lakers team, "There's only one ball".

We actually match up with the Warriors very well because we have one of the better perimeter defenses in the NBA. We can contain Thompson outside...and Green inside with Horford/others. Curry will still go off...and we'll limit that somewhat by running him down hard. Durant on the other hand cannot be stopped....but we will have a lot of firepower with Kyrie, Hayward, Brown year 3, Tatum year 2, and Rozier coming off the bench...we likely will have more depth in 2019 should we meet up. I doubt the Dubs can keep their depth...they will have about 8-10M to spend beyond Curry, Durant, Thompson, Green, Igoulada, and Livingston.

Forgetting how to shoot led to a lost season.

Responding to Brett Brown’s charge that Fultz did, indeed, and all on his own, attempt to change his shooting mechanics, Keith Williams, Fultz’s trainer, said:

Reaction from Markelle Fultz's trainer Keith Williams with us just now:

"Oh my god. That's false. That's not true." Keith Pompey on Twitter

The Markelle Fultz Mystery

I also remember he lost his "jump shot".. In games 73 to 82 he was playing regularly, however in the playoffs he played quite in bit in Game 1, played < 5 minutes in game 2 & 3, and DNP's since then..

Fultz or Tatum, take the latter any day..

If only Kyrie didn't need a 2nd knee surgery b/c of an infection...dagnabbit!

Judging them based off of this season is foolishness.

A big 4 of Davis, Irving, Hayward, and Horford can beat the warriors and I bet you only have to give up one of Brown or Tatum to get him so you have the other as the 5th man.

Embiid is a FA after next year....he actually sat for 2 years

lol......you'd have to give them BOTH Brown and Tatum.....and throw in a draft pick too

due to his contract, however, you'd have to give up either horford or heyward

i love how people think of golden state and they think of magic and dragons and gods

Golden State is just another basketball team, yes they have really good group of players, but at the end of the day, certain teams have gotten the better of them through a season, even if in reg season rather than post seaston...one of those teams is Celtics

the celtics of THIS year have about a 30-35% of beating GS in finals, the celtics of future years will be a better team than golden state

This Celtics team without Kyrie and Hayward and a possibly hobbled Brown would find a way to lose in 3 games to the Warriors. Good god.

Yeah, I think it's a combination of a bad shoulder injury and resulting mental block. I also think the media coverage of the guy has been terrible for him. These 18, 19 year olds are just kids and most of them aren't ready for the bigtime mentally, the sort of media microscope they end up under at the same age almost every other 19 year old is just an anonymous college sophomore. Fultz became a national laughingstock from day one because of the free throws. I remember Kwame Brown fell apart because Michael Jordan, his childhood hero, tormented him in practice and called him names and stuff and he never really recovered from that. It sucks because I thought Fultz was going to be a great player.

What's the deal with the bolded part? Sounds like a ****ty way for a teammate to act.

I disagree. The Celtics have what they need to compete at full strength. Looking at next years projected starters, you've got three All-Stars and two young wings playing at a high level and who will be All-Stars in the near future.

Then consider the excellent depth they have. We have seen that these guys play together extremely well.

Why blow up a chunk of the team for Davis or Kawhi? I hate it so much.

Largely staying the course is the best move for the next few years. Sure Rozier will walk or be traded but that's a given. Seek Horford's eventual replacement with Sac '19.
