23rd Overall Draft Pick ISAIAH WYNN

Watch the first Auburn- Georgia game, the one where Georgia got destroyed because Auburn's DE spent the afternoon in the backfield.

Wynn can not play tackle in the NFL. He is not better than either Thuney and certainly not Mason at Guard.

I'm not going to go back and watch the full game but PFF graded Wynn the highest of any Georgia player, offense or defense, in that game. PFF is PFF but that suggests to me he didn't have the bad game you're making it out to be.

Georgia Bulldogs Football Pro Football Focus grades against Auburn Tigers in 40-17 loss

He will be a replacement for Mason. Maybe he can be better than mason. I just don't see him playing tackle here

Everyone can have a bad game and even then his game wasn't poor. Personally i like the pick a lot more now. He is a blue chip prospect and my god he is a steal at 23, and is a great pick for us here!

We could have one of the most destructive O-Lines within the next 2-5 years!

If Wynn - the one with the, ahem, Torn Labrum - is not our opening day starter at LT, then this pick was a waste...maybe not as mind-numbingly wasteful as a feckin RB with knee "issues" at #31, but still...

We lost Solder, and will likely lose Mason next year. Wynn can't replace both players. We needed a Mayock draft to do that (Miller and Daniels).

Day 1 starter or it was a waste. No grey area? No learning curve? And what if he is a day 1 starter at guard?

After the Easley pick i worry about those players with injuries. I am sure he will get a chance at tackle but wynn will learn quickly that the NFL's a different league. Someone mentioned beachum as a name that has played tackle undersized. He has been ok but nothing great. I believe he had a couple of good seasons.

Holland spent a lot of time in the backfield -- you know, the guy who rushed against the RIGHT tackle. I am rewatching the game right now and charting snaps, and so far Wynn is an absolute brick wall, as usual. The only thing that makes sense to me is that you literally think Wynn is a different person, because Wynn was a monster in this game, just like all of his other games. I really don't think you know what you're talking about.

I agree; he looks like a big, slow doofus. Nice guy, but slow. He would be fine moving a big slow NT out of the hole, but how is he going to deal with the faster guys in the NFL? Looks like he held on every play; I doubt; he can get away with that in the NFL. I hate this pick.

Show me some clips of what you're talking about. Go ahead. Here's the game. I don't think you can do it, however, because he displays quick feet, good fundamentals, and wins his reps, just like he always does. You must be watching the wrong player. He's the LEFT tackle.

Height is how tall you are.
Length is how tall you are with your hands above your head.

Wynn has good arm length for his height. He's got good quick feet. He's got good knee bend. And he fires out of his stance on run blocks extremely quickly, allowing for excellent leverage.

Thanks for the explanation. He has below average arm for OL length according to that posted here and at this combine data. average arm length nfl linemen - Google Search

Can't see how that translates to "good length."

Right, he will be facing pass rushers who have mastered their hand fighting techniques and with those short arms and reach, he may really struggle.

Do you know how long Joe Thomas' arms are? Just over 32 inches. Skill > measurables. Wynn has skill in spades. I am absolutely convinced that people are watching the wrong player if they're complaining about Wynn's tape.

@JackBauer I’ll be rejoining our epic pm thread after the draft is finished and we can get back at it ;)

If I remember correctly on 4 and 1 Georgia goes for it and Wynn's guy tackles Michel three yards deep in the backfield, he got completely beat to the inside on a 4 and 1 run! I think it was late in the first half. Eason was running for his life the entire game! But none of those Auburn DEs are getting drafted! Wynn will not hold up against NFL DE (well maybe in practice, as he will be going against the worst ones in the NFL) but once the games start, you will see, he has no business playing tackle in the NFL. Maybe a serviceable guard, not exactly what you are looking for with the 23rd pick. Especially when you considered you traded away Brandon Cooks for Isaiah Wynn????????
