Braxton being on Pats radar was one of the few certainties of this draft. It would certainly make my day to bring in another “relentless“ flee in 7th or UDFA..

Also: I have to imagine that they'd look at him as a pass rushing DT. If that's the case, his testing numbers are very good. As an Edge player, he's a bit lackluster.

A 2nd-3rd 3/5 tech is looking fairly likely based upon the contacts so far. Interestingly, not much action in the LB/LT area or in terms of potential first round picks. It might just be that a) those contacts haven’t leaked out yet, b) they know who they’re targeting and don’t need visits or c) they really are targeting a first round trade up for a specific target.

These are my mid and late round targets over lauletta and Falk.

Speaks, Rasheem Green, PJ Hall and BJ Hill all seem like potential draftees. It’s why I’m not ruling out Da’Ron Payne either. No hints at Harrison Phillips or Nathan Shepard though if memory serves. They met with some 5-tech types at the combine too if I recall.

Yes to Litton, White, and Kanoff. I haven't heard anything regarding the rest of your list, but that doesn't mean we didn't contact them -- I just haven't seen any reports. Caserio went to see White, I believe. That's pretty strong interest.

And (whew), it turns out that the Pats did interview TE Mark Andrews (informally), according to Hannable. Hannable's 40-word "scouting" blurb is somewhat negative about Andrews' blocking chops, but that's in the minority of what I've read (which, isn't everything, of course, and I haven't looked at tape myself).

I'd also been wondering if the Pats had interviewed DaShawn Hand (6035/297). To me, his size maybe projects him to 3-4 DE as much as to interior rusher, perhaps to line up opposite Lawrence Guy (6041/302). If the Pats select him, it might be something of an "indicator" pick wrt BB's intended direction with the DL front for 2018 and beyond ... perhaps more prevalence of a run-stopping, pocket-pushing, 2-gapping, 3-4 core with rush support from OLB and Elephant types.

****erson (6045/292), Holmes (6047/283), Speaks (6027/283) and even Andrew Brown (6033/296) also maybe project that way to some degree.

Also, the pro day contact with LT Brandon Parker is interesting. He has the size (6075/305), arm length (35") and the testing numbers that seem to fit the Pats' (Scar's) preferred profile (even though Kolton Miller is far more Solder-like in athleticism).

At some point, I'll need to review the college stats for the WRs and DBs the Pats have been interviewing and working out to see if any of them have return experience, especially for punts.

Andrews is pretty decent as a pass catcher, but I was never very impressed with his blocking. He's also likely to go in the 2nd. I prefer Ian Thomas at the of the 3rd. Far superior blocker. He's also an excellent athlete with some upside. For a player with Andrews size, I would have liked to see some more power when he was asked to block, but he's mostly a move TE. He's a very good athlete, but not outstanding. Thomas has more explosive traits at a few pounds heavier, although he's not as tall.

"He's a great big slot receiver. That's it. He won't block at all so what do you have other than a big slot who is an average athlete? I gave him a Day 3 grade." -- AFC regional scout

This also enabled me to catch an error in the TE Combine Results table published by Steelers Depot (which I use because it's the easiest to copypasta to a spreadsheet). They have the testing numbers for Ian Thomas and Jordan Thomas (Mississippi State) transposed.

Here's hoping the Steelers draft the wrong guy, eh?
