Patriots draft meetings

Caserio working out QB mike white today
Not today, that was in the past. Same interest nonetheless. Whoever their chosed QB is, White, Lauletta, whoever, they should reach and take him a little early. You don't want to miss on the QB. In my latest simulated mock, I took White with the Patriots' late #2 even though he's "supposed" go to in round 3-5.

Thank you, I corrected my post. I don’t think they should reach for a QB unless they really like him and not draft him for the sake of drafting a backup QB for TB12. If Mike White or Lauletta is the QB of the future, then trade up for him if they feel he is going to be gone. If they are just meh towards these QBs, let the chips fall where they may and stay put. Don’t trade away assets unnecessarily.

Didn't see this one earlier. If he falls, I'd be sorely tempted. His 2016 tape is super good. If Scar can help him get back to that level, he would be really good value.

feels like they had to after all the mocks..;)

Due dilligence maybe?

IDK. It feels to me like there may be more uncertainty about the current OL roster in general, and not just at LT.

It would certainly get noisy up in here from jaws hitting keyboards if the Pats went OT, then OG with their first two picks.

I wouldn't mind Daniels or Ragnow at 43. Shoring up the OL is never a bad investment. I still prefer defense, but I wouldn't complain about a top level IOL.

Ballage would be lethal in this offense in the White role. Needs some one to develop as an inside runner, but in space he's a matchup problem. He intrugues me as a late round player with significant upside.

I don’t know if he’ll be that late a rounder. Round 4 at the latest?

Due dilligence maybe?

Well yes, but bear in mind that’s the top 3 OTs if you don’t include Wynn that they’ve brought in. And as they can’t work them out it’s not ability they’re doing due diligence on but character and white board work.

Potential first rounders with an official visit:

Kolton Miller
Connor Williams
Mike McGlinchey
Derrius Guice
Rashaan Evans
Justin Reid (they wanted him for an OV but couldn’t schedule it).
Lamar Jackson
D.J. Moore

Might not make it into first round but might sneak in.

Josh Sweat
Christian Kirk
Rasheem Green
Ronald Jones

There’s no guarantee an official visit will be a first round pick, but it’s still a useful indicator.

Edit: It should be noted that there are about 13 OVs we’re not aware of either.

Historically, 8 - 10 RBs go in the first 4 rounds. I have a tough time seeing him break into the top 10 at the position. Other backs are more complete, or more polished in their specialization. Whether I'd draft the following players aside, these are the names I hear most often as the top 10 players. Do you take Ballage over any of them? Just curious. My guess is that he's clumped in with Scarborough, Walton, Wadley, Kelly, Adams, Jackson, Smith, Edmunds, etc instead.

Projected draft round, not my grades:

1st

Barkley
Guice

2nd

Michel
Johnson
Jones
Chubb

3rd

Penny
Freeman

4th

Hines
Samuels

???

Ballage

FWIW, Penny is getting a lot of top 50 hype.

You may be right, I just think the size/athleticism thing might boost his stock. He has the potential to be a rare talent if everything clicks - a combo of David Johnson and Marshawn Lynch. I doubt he’d get there but I wouldn’t mind a mini-me version of that combo.
