Really hope they don't lose Flores. He seems like "the guy" and I wouldn't even blink if he replaced Matty P.

Would love to poach Daboll back from Alabama if McD is out.

Well if you can't beat us on the field then let's try and weaken them with the coaching staff.

Arizona has no QB. If i am flores i stick around with the pats.

Disagree this may be the only team that sees him as a head coach it's a hell of a promotion you take it.
My guess is Josh is the one going back and forth whether he wants to leave which is why the Colts are looking at Vrabel as a backup plan.

But let's be honest that flores's still much an unknown. He has been under this system for awhile now. He's a young guy. He still could have his chances.

If Flores staying = Flores getting the DC job, he'd be a fool to leave for the Cardinals gig, unless he owes a lot of money to a loan shark, or something.

Things could be quite Patriotic next year.
If Josh goes to Colts
If Matty P goes to Giants
If Flores goes to Zona
If Vrabel goes to Detroit

O'Brien just got an extension and there are Patriot front office guys littered throughout the league.

If Patricia is "most likely" the Giants HC, why cant the Patriots talk to Flores and tell him he will be next HC, if Patricia leaves?

If I’m Flores I will be the Patriots DC under Belichick and in 4 years at age 40 have either:

  • A shot at being the successor to BB
  • A hot candidate where I can pick what job I want
Jumping to Arizona as the HC at age 36 on a team entering in a rebuilding phase doesn’t sound like an enticing longterm move. The upside is he is a McVay on the defensive side of the ball though.

God no we do not want daboll.

I think this concept of hc in waiting is a patsfans.com creation. When has it ever happened? jim Caldwell ?

99% of all coaches would never turn down a hc job.

Huh? You firing B.B. to promote Flores?

When the time comes the Pats are probably hiring from within. BB is turning 66 and has said in the past he doesn’t want to coach in his 70s.

It took Patricia 6 years as dc, 2 SB championships and a potential 3rd to seemingly get a hc job.
That’s on a team with B.B. and Brady.

Logic would say Flores will take even longer than that given brady and realistically B.B. don’t have 6 years left.

He is coaching with the goal of being an NFL HC. Why would he turn down an offer? That makes zero sense.
NFL coaches who are capable of being great HCs believe that they can walk in the door and turn any team into a winner, unless there are major factors that would prevent them from doing their job (weak roster isn’t under if them)
Almost every great hc in nfl history walked into a bad situation and fixed it.

That 70s comment was more than a decade ago and was not stated as a rule but just thrown out in response to “how long will you coach”. It certainly isn’t a bright red line.

McDaniels goes to the Colts, he trades every pick in their next two drafts to the Patriots for the rights to Jake Bequette. Then he resigns and returns to the Pats as OC.

Did you even know Flores exists before DYJ1 or even before the coach hiring process this offseason started ? Seems to me like most people learned Boyer's name only because of the 2011 pass defense and then quickly forgot him when Talib arrived.

Daboll will stay in Alabama and that is good for everyone involved.

I think this is the future, I think BB hands it over to his son
