What is Wrong with Brady? The Debate Continues...

Put the old broad in her place nice. You should have told her to go back to where she belongs: THE KITCHEN LOLOLOLOLOLO
At the same time, maybe there's something to the fact a casual fan can walk into the room and recognize that Brady isn't playing his usual brand of football while a seasoned diehard fan cannot.

Rather than resorting to sexism when your precious quarterback's play was challenged, maybe explain why he is still great with stats or something else? Just saying.

We absolutely are blessed to have Brady and a solid roster. I'm not trying to seem ungrateful. Instead, I merely wanted to get a sense of why the interceptions and missed passes have gone up for Brady in recent weeks. Lots of good explanations have been given and it seems like the Patriots are in a good position to do well in the playoffs when a few other guys return.

Admit you are a “dumb dumb” and move on.
I'm not sure that is a very compelling argument to a post that was half intended to be a light joke and half as a genuine question about his play. Whenever someone refuses to engage with a legitimate topic of conversation with anything other than jejune insults, then I think we know where things stand.

In fact, the entire offense picked it up after the Pick 6. It’s like it woke them up. They scored 37 points against a team that is 3rd in defense yardage and 10th in points.

Those people remembering when it was all easy are remembering fantasies. Brady had stretches with his best receivers, when he was getting great protection, when the running game was working that he was just sailing, but so does every quarterback. The best have more games like that, but still win games when they and the team around them are struggling.

How spoiled we are that the guy goes 21-28, 224 yards, 2 TD and 1 INT en route to a 3 TD win and people are asking “what’s wrong with Brady?”

Incredibly spoiled. By rights posters that have nothing more than that to offer should post less and read more. Waaaaa, our QB has to work a little. Other players and backups have to push themselves to fill the gaps. Why can't it always be easy? Waaaaa.

This Brady should not have to compete against the younger Brady to gain approval.

All he has to do now is to give us a chance to win each game - and he's doing that.

You probably should have thought a lot more before hitting the reply button on that one, especially since one can't really evaluate all the ints without looking at the tape and understanding the plays.

And the "sexism" attack? Really?

Brady seems fine for the most part. Part of it is the competition (AFCE play the Patriots tough and they have more to lose, so they bring it) and some of it may be the lingering injury.

The one are where he seemed to struggle recently was 3rd down. Saw a graphic during the game where he was 15/34 for the last some many games. The eye test I hear about might just be a limited set of data or just honing in on the bad plays.

That 3rd down has to get better on offense as well on defense. Hopefully having a healthy hogan and van noy on defense will help.

Brady’s stats over the last 4 games
12/3 @ Buf - 258 yards - 0 TD’s - 1 INT
12/11 @ MIA - 233 yards - 1 TD - 2 INT
12/17 @ PIT - 298 yards - 1 TD - 1 INT
12/24 BUF - 224 yards - 2 TD - 1 INT

Brady’s last 4 games
253 avg passing yards - 4 TD’s & 5 INT

Spin it anyway you want, the numbers dont lie.

And he played pretty well in 3 of those games.

Both games against Buffalo we won by at least 20 points with a ****ton of yards on the ground and multiple redzone TDs to RBs. He was borderline great against the Steelers except for that stupid pick.

But I guess we are the point where only scoring around 26 per game average and dont walk down the field at will is a problem for some people.

Some throws, specially at the beginning of games, lack power. It's noticeble how much thrust he's putting in 10 yard throws to the sideline, which is something that he has never done before. Also. if we compare how much he was moving in the beginning of the season to now, his stiffness is much more evident

???????

there is no doubt in my mind that brady’s Ball has lost a good bit of zip since he hurt hid archillies. Pre-injury some of his picks never happen, but post injury he has lost zip on the ball and defenders are getting their hands of some of these zipless throws.

I dont agree with this. In the last two years he had countless interceptable balls dropped by opponents at a rate that had to regress to the mean at some point. The way he continues to navigate the interior of the pocket smoothly and hits those seam passes to Gronk with the right amount of zip on the ball tells me that there is no substantial issue with him.

The irony of this entire thread is that while people love to **** on the OL for things they often are not responsible for the entire aspect of Thuney having a down month, Solder having a brainfart a week and us playing with ever-changing RTs gets ignored in favor of a Brady is getting worse narrative.

Like I said yesterday.. the throw-away in the endzone where he decided against throwing it into a tight window with double (maybe triple) coverage on Gronk is very telling that he is still on top of his game. People might call him the GOAT but he is not football Jesus and will make mistakes and can be baited to read things the wrong way like any other player.

Maybe that casual fan should stop looking at the box score and thinking he can judge performances just by numbers. Thats how we get those ******ed threads like the Dwayne Allen fiasco. Those die-hard fans can apply at least some nuance and context to what they are seeing. And I am actually happy that our running game seems to be doing fine, Brady can check out of pass plays and we can take advantage when the opponents go small to sell out against the pass like the Bills did yesterday.

Who cares if we run it or pass it to win a game ? And when called upon to lead the team back into the game Brady has delivered from the start of the season until the end.

I think a lot of the negativity is overstated, but I also think it’s fair to question why his play seems to suggest that he may be playing through some issues.

Losing Hogan was big. I think it allows teams to roll a safety towards Cooks or at least line up their top coverage CB against him without fear that too many other receivers are going to beat them. Amendola is pretty much working the underneath to middle routes, and aside from Gronk, Brady is being forced to look for some of the “other” guys such as Dorsett, Britt, and Allen. Even losing receiving backs like Burkhead and White make the situation even dicier.

There’s also the Achilles issue and a rumored hand injury, although the latter has not been confirmed by any reputable outlets or on the injury report. Any way you look at it, Brady seems to be improving in the past two games, health wise. I think he may be moving around a little better, and we still saw plenty of zip at times to the passes to Gronkowski, particularly last week.

I think the bye week should help with some rest, the ability to work on some chemistry issues with Cooks and the newer guys, and the return to health from guys like Hogan, Burkhead, and White. Not sure what’s going on with Mitchell, but we’ll finally know once and for all this upcoming week.

He's old.
No one is pushing him.

So my wondering what Brady has to work on (i.e. why he is struggling, relative to his usual standards), is me not wanting our QB to work a little? I think this entire thread is quite amusing since most of the fans on here don't want to discuss what Brady needs to work on, but rather would hum en masse "lalala GOAT GOAT!".

Brady is the greatest of all time, but he has achieved that mantle by asking more of himself and demanding those around him (including fans) challenge him to maintain his standard of excellence. What most in this thread have argued, conversely, is that we should just be grateful for everything Brady-related and not consistently hold him and the Patriots to the highest of standards. Standards, I might add, that place him and the team above all other teams. Is questioning what is wrong with him, as a manner of establishing "What can he and the Patriots do better?" that wrong and laughable? Such questions are said from a place of wanting this team to win another Super Bowl and not from a whiny, entitled position.

Brady completed 75% of his passes, with an 8.0 ypa rate, and put up 37 points against a defense that had allowed just 14.0 points a game over the last month. And aside from the game-ending "drive" where they ended up taking a knee, during which time Hoyer was at QB, Brady had led the Patriots to scoring drives on 7 out of 9 drives, and following the INT, 6 consecutive: TD, FG, FG, TD, TD, TD.

I mean...come on.

And he was missing 3 of his top receivers from last season, Edelman, Hogan, and White. They put up 37 with Philip Dorsettt and Kenny Britt getting meaningful playing time at WR, Dwayne Allen getting targets at TE, and Mike Gillislee, who hadn’t played in six weeks at RB. Seriously, WTF do people expect, 60 points a week using scrubs?
