Dwayne Allen

I'd be curious to see some of the plays, as well. According to the Herald Staff weekly breakdowns, he's been somewhat lazy finishing at times the past two games. There was also some other mention after game two, but I can't remember the specific beat writer. Personally, I hadn't noticed myself, but I don't have access to the all-22 outside of Tony's posts.

One play they pointed out was the screen play to Lewis where he supposedly disengaged too early, and they claimed that the play would have gone for a much bigger gain had he finished through. I'm sure we'll notice soon enough if it becomes a pattern. Until then, I'm going to assume that he's still a better blocking option at TE than anything else we had outside of Gronk or 2016 Bennett.

From what I have seen he is a far better blocker than Bennett. Bennett dances around the verge of holding to the point where you just hope not to see the dreaded 10 yard penalty flag coming in whereas Allen has cleaner technique mostly because he is a stronger player.

Please get Graham that bum out of conversations about TEs. He is a big WR that cant handle physicality, cant block at all and even in NO was dependent on Brees to make plays.

Did you really just call Jimmy Graham a bum? The guy had 16 touchdowns in one season. Who would you rather have as your tight end... Dwayne Allen or a prime Jimmy Graham?

And tell us how Allens 17 snaps a per game as a pure blocker alone is worth 6 million per year?

Waiting for 1-2 scenes of poor blocking from Allen.

And yes I am calling Graham a bum. He is one of the most overrated players of the last 5 years and the trade for him might have single handily crippled the Seahawks from getting another SB.

I agree with you about Graham being overrated. He's largely a one-trick pony (receiving, particularly in the red zone), but I wouldn't call him a bum. I also think Bennett was a far better blocker than you do, especially considering I believe he played most of the season injured. I think Bennett's one tough MFer, or at least he was here.

I thought so too but at the beginning of the season but Allen is better. We'll see if he gets more targets but as far as blocking goes Allen is the real deal. Graham would be useless in this system imo.. People seem to treat TE's as WR's when they're not. Anyway, Allen has some work to do with his receiving but his blocking has looked good imo.

6 million per year for 17 snaps a game as a backup o lineman. Not good value.

I'd love to see Dwayne Allen make a play like this

32 out 32 NFL head coaches/gms would take Jimmy Graham over Dwayne Allen on their team

So disrespectful to refer to a very good player like Graham as a "bum"

That said, his grace period has now ended, and contrary to your post and my prior beliefs, he has indeed made some ineffective blocks, both this week and last. This is now the second week in a row where a beat writer has pointed out his poor blocking on a specific play.

You'll have to share the specific play the beat writer is talking about. Poor Luuked is beside himself over the thought of his binky Allen missing a block.

Stop posting 5 year old highlights of wide receivers in a conversation about tight ends.

Where are the 1-2 scenes of Allen being bad at blocking ?

I dont give a **** about Allen, but uninformed posters like you are just throwing **** at the wall. You have shown again and again that you really have no clue about what you are talking no matter the topic. You just claim things without backing them up while others are engaging in actual football talk. I will continue to call you out on every claim you make without providing evidence. I dont care if you put me on the ignore list or not.

You need professional help with your obsession

Graham lines up at tight end most of the time not WR. So he is not a WR. Wasn't he franchised as a tight end? Stop making stuff up to suit your agenda

I dont have an agenda. You claim things but dont even remember that he personally fought via the NFLPHA against being franchised as a TE because that was not how he was used by the Saints. He is a big body WR no matter what his position designation says.

So despite the fact he has played the majority of his snaps in the NFL as a tight end on two different teams, you are going to continually call him a "wide receiver"

Not to mention you referred to a pro bowl NFL player as a "bum". Who are you? What high level sports did you ever play?

Dude, you can't be calling Graham a bum and then following up with this post.

Thanks to supafly who pointed out the missed block. A patriots beat writer confirmed it.

I went back and looked at the tape. It was in week three on the screen pass to Dion Lewis. Allen either disengaged the blocker too early or became lazy on the block. Either way he allowed his man to blow up the play

Not giving up but not very hopeful either. expensive for a blocking te
