Zeke Elliot suspended 6 games.

I heard that Jones is not going to take the Kraft high road and could go nuclear on the League. He had to be talked down from suing the League when they hit him with the salary cap penalty for spending during the uncapped year.

One advantage Jones has over Kraft is that he was just inducted into the HOF last week...

Kraft is completely content with taking it up the keister in an effort to solidify his bid for the hall

Jones might have some bigger brass ones and go after the league with this, there is nothing he has to lose at this point except money

Here's where the excessive harshness of the "deflategate" punishment really backfires on the rest of the league. Now that they've established that the penalty benchmark for suspicion of tampering with official equipment (ideal gas law be damned) is four games, they can't equal or go lower than that when punishing players for a real offense such as domestic violence (imagine the outcry). This hurts old Gloryhole and his Cowboys more than anything else because of their tendency to disregard violent histories of players they load up on.

Wonder if Jerruh thinks the ****dell is doing a good job now like he was with defamegate

If I was Kraft, if a reporter or someone asked me I would make a statement that is a WORD FOR WORD repeat of Jerry Jones comment's about Goodell and how he handled deflategate lol

“He’s got obviously a very tough job,” Kraft said of Goodell, via ESPN. “Now I see some people doing that, that’s that old violin that’s not feeling too sorry for him because that’s why you pay the big bucks is to deal with the big problems. But he’s doing an outstanding job. I can tell you firsthand that in his spot you have to with people that you are counting on to help build and to help excel as far as the National Football League, I’m talking about the owners, you have to know that you’re going to make some decisions that are very unpopular with that particular group. This is the case.”

“I think Ezekial Elliot is arguably as great a running back as we’ve ever competed against since I’ve been in pro football,” Kraft said. “And so the fact that he may not be there is substantive. I don’t want to in any way say that the teams Jason Garrett puts together up there and Jerry Jones owns can’t figure out a way to beat us without Ezekial Elliot. If anybody can do it, they can do it.”

Now now Jerry, didn't you counsel one Bob Kraft to accept his punishment from the league?
It's time for Kraft to phone him with the same advice.

Got to give the league a ton of credit on this one. Atleast they didn't feed false information to some naive reporter claiming atleast 10 or 12 victims came forward. Not really.
Yeah, but we don't really know that, do we? The 6-page letter they wrote was made public and it explains the rationale for their decision.

Sorry, NFL Office, but I am not willing to take a single thing you say at face value regarding these things. They will spin and lie and say whatever they want to make themselves look like the good guys.

I am not saying I think Elliott is innocent, I'm just saying I don't really know and I need more evidence than the NFL's word.

What in the world was Josh Brown's punishment based on? How could Goodell possibly explain that? Brown admitted in court he beat his wife, appears the courts couldn't reach a conclusion on Elliot so why is the NFL?

FWIW, that's exactly what Elliott's lawyer is accusing the NFL of doing in the response letter. They're saying that the accuser claimed there were four incidents, and that in one of them it was shown that the accuser was lying. But that the NFL decided to leave that out of its summary entirely and pretend that didn't happen, while maintaining that someone who had been caught lying once was credible in her other allegations.

I took a while to think about this before posting. I did relish that this is happening to Jerry Jones, after all, he did say Goodell was doing a good job and is fair after handing down Brady's 4 game suspension (without definitive proof of any wrongdoing). Now all of a sudden he's doing a terrible job and is unfair.

This does remind me a bit of the Brady suspension, in that, there is LEGALLY no proof of a crime being committed. Key word is legally. That being said, the crime he is accused of is despicable, and ANYONE who does this deserves to be suspended big time ( my opinion, forever).

My concern is the police did not arrest or convict Elliot of doing anything. So what gives the NFL the right to hand down such a suspension. This is where I'm torn. The leadership of the NFL (Goodell) is so corrupt, I don't trust it in any way, shape or form.

But Now Cowboy's fans get to go through what we did for 2 years.
The standard of proof for Roger Goodell is much lower than that for a jury.

hmmmmmmmmm.......... sounds familiar.......

If I was Elliott, I'd skip the appeal and go straight to filing suit. No sense wasting time with an appeal that Goodell himself would hear, but this way I could at least choose the venue.

I mean, if the NFL files a "Motion to Confirm" in NY district (CA2), then it's all over. They would have the CA2 Appeals Court ruling as iron clad and air tight.

That's a great point. It's odd that a league can essentially suspend a player for reputational harm even though the person may not have done the act for which they are accused.
There is a standard of proof for legal action. There is not standard for NFL action. Totally arbitrary.

Man the players are so ****ed. You know the owners are going to dangle moving Goodell into a different position as part of the negotiation and the players are gonna eat that up all the while taking it up the ass on something else.

Well-played, owners.

I'm unsure whether Elliot did it or not. Sounds like the victim's credibility isn't particularly good so there is that. I'd like to see what convincing evidence the NFL supposedly holds.

To repeat my standard position:

The NFL has no business handing out punishments for non-football issues.

Agree. But if they did, how would Roger feed his imperial ego?

Well, Roger could just eat ****.

I just responded to that. hahaha
I guess my reasoning for singling it out [i.e., why post anything stupid since it mostly just perpetuates stupidity] is that I used to be pretty into Brandt - took his opinions seriously given his career experience. I've listened to enough Ross Tucker / Business of Football podcasts now to know that his takes don't often have enough quality to them to demonstrate to warrant attention. Disappointing because, again, his background is extensive.
