Zeke Elliot suspended 6 games.

Interesting to read the Giants fan forum on the subject.

Zeke suspended 6 games

To summarize:
- the consensus is that the NFL must have had much more evidence than what they made public. (Sound familiar?) I had to laugh when one person wrote that "don't underestimate the type of investigation the NFL can undertake if they so choose. They basically have their own branch of the FBI these days".

Amazing somebody would say that considering the bungling of the two year PSI ordeal, and the botched Ray Rice investigation.

- expanding on the above comment, the same person claims that the NFL knew about what happened with Ray Rice all along, but were confident they could bury the story.

- the rare comments about John Mara's influence and the Josh Brown one-game suspension are briskly refuted and rationalized, end of conversation.

- the majority feel comparisons between Elliott's situation and Brady's are fair.

- one person brought up the St Patrick's Day parade (when Elliott pulled down the shirt of a girl he was with for about half a second), but said the NFL did not consider that as part of their punishment. If so, then why did they include it in their report?

- apparently to some this suspension means the Giants will be playing in the Super Bowl. (No mention of Seattle or Green Bay; apparently Dallas was the only potential roadblock.)
Giants fans are just Jets fans who weren't thrown as hard by their parents.

Roger Goodell says there were six offenses. Which means exactly nothing as far as I'm concerned. Maybe there were 6. Maybe there were 60. Maybe there were 0. I don't know the count, but I'm not going to believe a damn word Goodell/the NFL says about any of it.

can't argue with this really...we KNOW the Goon is a pathological megalomaniacal liar

He might have bought off the ex-gf, but doubtful based on her comments:
Ezekiel Elliott’s domestic violence accuser speaks out

The laughable thing is that the NFL took over a year to complete the "investigation".

It's kinda funny that you are claiming that Elliott bought off witnesses when the NFL is known for making crap up..

I didn't say he did that, I said he was rich enough to do that. It's certainly a common enough tactic used by wealthy entitled athletes.

Also, it's not as though this guy has never had any run-ins with violence or assaulting women before.

Finally, the Cowboys do not have the giant target on their backs that the Pats do.

I don't care about Zeke either way, but the NFL's punishments are so arbitrary and random that it's like staring into a dimension of pure chaos. How else do you explain it being better to be a wife beating kicker than it is to be a pot smoking wide receiver? Better to use your wife as an HGH mule than... just about anything, actually. Sure that makes sense why not, go get 'em Rog.

Jerry should respond by pushing for an Eli suspension.

I heard that Jones is not going to take the Kraft high road and could go nuclear on the League. He had to be talked down from suing the League when they hit him with the salary cap penalty for spending during the uncapped year.
Popcorn time!

no sympathy from me!!!

screw the cowboys.
The only team I have any sympathy for when the League defecates on them is the Saints. They got hosed and they stood behind our guys when Brady got ****ed. The rest of them, especially the likes of Jerruh and the Drug Addict, can go **** themselves.

Got to give the league a ton of credit on this one. Atleast they didn't feed false information to some naive reporter claiming atleast 10 or 12 victims came forward. Not really.

Again this league fails to uphold integrity to the fullest. I thought a 4 game suspension was warranted, however like some have said, I don't know the details. Could be worse rhan we all know? But to not punish Josh Kicker not the same is just another black eye on the league. I thought they did the right thing but it just puts a magnifying glass on how stupid these ^%#~ers are with levying equal punishments for similar offenses.

Aside from Elliot, I'd really like to know how some fans outside of the Giants felt about the deflation last season during the Pittsburgh game? How it was so swept under the rug when it was monumental genocide the season prior? I knew that Mara was one of the golden boy owners but this last year has really taken it to another level. 3 incidents of very high nature just swept away like they never happened. Eli equipment scandal, Josh kicker domestic violence and the open deflation that occured in plain sight.

Like a couple of other posters mentioned, I'm starting to dislike the Mara's almost as much as Goodell the clown.

the league's letter to Elliott:

Elliott's response via his lawyer:

If I'm understanding this correctly (which I may not be, I haven't followed this story too closely) there were four alleged incidents. The prosecutor (and the NFL) generally believed the victim's account on the first three, and concluded that she was lying in the fourth. Therefore, the letter outlining the suspension 'only' details the three instances, and leaves out the last one.

Zeke appears to be arguing that since she was found to be lying in one instance, she cannot be considered credible in her other allegations, and that by ignoring the evidence that suggests his accuser is a liar, the league is cherrypicking evidence to build the narrative that he's guilty rather than fairly and objectively considering the facts. Gee, that does sound familiar.

It'll be interesting to see what facts come out next. Not really sure where I stand on this: if he did it he deserves the suspension he got twice over, but I also don't trust the league to give an accurate account of things at all. Time to wait for more evidence to come out I guess.

Welcome to the club, Dallas fans.

The fact that they gave this 6 games, and only gave Josh Brown one game is an absolute JOKE.

The joke was the 1 gamer that brown got. If what's being reported is true that Elliott beat his g/f 3 separate times in a matter of days he deserves more than 6 games. He should consider himself lucky he's not in jail and gets to continue his career in October.

I got a headache thinking this through (OK, maybe I had an early ****tail...or two) but, I think I finally understand how Goondell's "mind" works.

Hear me out...

Four Game Suspension for the fabrication by Grigson, Kensil and HSPN alleging the illicit deflation of footballs that simply lost air pressure according to the laws of Physics under cold, wet conditions.

Six Game Suspension for unproven, legally uncharged allegations of sexual assault on the Female Person.

Stick with me now...

In the Goodellian universe, women are only a little more valuable than footballs. How, you might ask, do we know that?

The answer is obvious.

Young women in skimpy outfits on the sideline enhance the "Gameday Stadium Experience." That in the mess that is known as the "Mind of Roger" is "a good thing."

But, in the mind of our dear Roger, you can't throw women around and inflate or deflate them at will, so they're really not all that much more valuable than inflated bags of leather. That, in the same puddle of slime that passes for the brain of the Omissioner, is "a bad thing."

So, even though the whole story might be made up, a guy who didn't take air out of footballs gets penalized almost as badly as a guy who might or might not have abused women.

Any questions?
