Kony Ealy - bold prediction, won't make roster

Is it out of thin air?

Based on past and present, this guy may not be the right fit for this organization
Yes out of thin air.
Past is his former team thought enough if him that he was their #1 DE, present is what? People making up an attitude problem?

He has played good football on a good NFL defense. Not a lot of players have done that.

He had a good Super Bowl once. He also was modestly productive over a longer time span while seeing a good amount of snaps. Sounds like a guy who should at least be making the 53, but that doesn't mean he'll be any harder to cut in BB's eyes. I just don't think it's at all a "hot take" to suggest there's a chance he's cut.

Harder to cut because he is deserving of a lot of snaps based upon his ability compared to others at the position.

Let's be clear. What a guy did in the past has nothing to do with the now, but everything to do with how well they can play.

Whats the chances now for Mychal Kendricks? Maybe only if Ealy doesn't make it? I expect Ealy to step up. He could find a niche on this team.

No sure why people thinks kendricks could help us, but even more not sure how people think he can replace players 25-35 lbs heavier at a position hr doesn't play.

Yup. There was article last year saying that BB has reached the I don't give a f*** stage of coaching, and he'll get rid of a talented guy at the first sign of not buying in. Given the info in Reiss' article, I wouldn't be surprised if Ealy doesn't have much rope left.
LeGarrette Blount Alan Branch.

I suspect if Ealy is waived AND and an injury or two at the position we might see that deal happen

Do you think that how a player's attitude may effect others on the team weighs into BB's decisions ?? When being interviewed Ealy said regarding missing practice " Me and coach Belicheck have something going on" ..... IMHO THAT looks like an attitude problem...

I think he uses the veterans to get these guys together if they don't they're gone if they do you got a branch you got to

Of course attitude matters. Of course there is no indication that means there is an attitude issue.
It was a way of doing what patriots players are supposed to do, not answer questions.

Perhaps I'm different than most fans, but I don't guess at hidden meanings and then think my guesses indicate something.

LeGarrette Blount Alan Branch.

When was Blount suspended by Belichick?

Branch was already a veteran with this team, who apparently was held out because of farting in the team meeting. Ealy has not played a snap for this team, and was already held out of a portion of OTAs and day one of actual camp. Much more suspicious to me, but I suppose it could be a giant fart here too.

While I agree that he is not a lock at all it really is a pretty bold prediction to say he will be cut with only 3 days of TC over. Injuries happen, sometimes players just flip a switch and suddenly get it.. also, Nink's retirement opened the door considerably for Ealy to make it.

With this Nink retirement I would make a call to KC about Tamba Hali.

He wasn't going to make Carolina's roster, so I've always assumed he's 50/50 at best to make the deepest roster in the league.
??

We do NOT have a deep roster at his position: DE/OLB

As of now, the choice is between Ealy and Grissom.

Sure, we could trade for someone, or sign someone. However, that is possible at every position.

Space in Belichick's doghouse is rented not bought. Ealy wouldn't be the first and won't be nearly the last guy to have a tough transition into the team culture. He'll be just fine, and if not, he'll fake it for the cameras.

That former team thought so little of him as their #1 DE that they traded him for a minor draft slot move. And reports of his having an attitude problem didn't just start here in New England after a missed practice. It's been a reported issue for him since he got into the league.

What was going on may have been absolutely nothing. It may have been a tempest in a teapot. It may have been something significant that will get worked through to everyone's satisfaction. It may have been a sign of a rocky and/or short tenure in New England.

Time will tell but, given the lid this team puts on communication with the outside world, this sort of speculation is expected and appropriate.
