The kid seems like a class act. I'm pulling for him.

I really think a big reason he doesn't see the field is b/c Chung is so good.

We may need his roster spot for someone else though. When trying to sneak a promising player onto the roster, Richards' spot will be one of those up for consideration.

I couldn't agree more . . . with both points, Rob. Word is Richards is a very smart kid and great in the locker room.

Chung is one of my favorites on the team, though it's hard to say that because I love so many of our guys. But Chung is really the unsung hero that makes the D as versatile as it is with all the packages they deploy. His career resurgence really comes down to his ability to cover so better than he did in his first stint. He's still not the best at it, but he's more than adequate and that three-safety look NE uses is because of him primarily.

OK, fair enough. Personally I won't be alarmed by anything (outside of injuries) until after the 3rd preseason game.

BTW- having your "best blocking TE in the league" wind up on the ground after 2 straight run blocks IS NOT optimal....just not very important at this point in camp. What I would have liked to know from Bedard was not so much that Gronk wound up on the ground, but WHO put him there?

That's the point I'm making. If it's the 3rd day of camp and it's not that big of a deal AT THE MOMENT...why say that now?? If it bothers BB then that is when it'll bother me. That's all.

I agree. Its a dogfight. I think hes good but that doesn't mean anything obviously.

If Ebner or King can show anything close to what Chung can do hes on the outside no question as those two are better on STs.

This line is confusing from Bedard. He's not sure what that means but he says it's "not optimal"? Guys get beat all the time, even Gronk. Somehow losing one or two battles in camp and that takes away his 7 year career resume of superior blocking ability? I don't get that. It's stuff like that that makes me hesitant to subscribe.

He might be referring to his back situation..

BTW- That was pretty good coverage by Gilmore on Cooks. He showed great recovery from that good stop move by Cooks.

On the other side - If you are wondering if Brady and Cooks will eventually get in sync, this is a very positive look. The ball and Cooks were right on the spot.....and they had to be.
I'm hearing Brady and Cooks already look like they've been playing together a while.

Cooks is killing everyone but I don't see how Coleman makes this team. Too many other faster players with more upside.
You may be right. However, he may sneak on the roster if Cyrus Jones doesn't get his head out of his arse. I'm hearing it's still a pretty mixed bag with him, with more leaning toward some of the struggles we saw last season.

Thanks LD, that makes perfect logical sense....but see, you nor I should not have to read into what he meant...he should have written that so there aren't any open-ended interpretations. Oh well.

Agreed, but the major point being that many people were surprised that BB traded away most of his picks in a strong draft year, but it also meant a strong UDFA class was there to be had and BB maximized his resources.

It's looking very good with some of the guys BB traded for and some early impressions among the UDFAs.
True but all he really did was trade the 1 for cooks. The 2 was a minor trade down to get ealy (like 8 spots)

Cooks will be the answer to the quality of the overall draft for us. The Udfas are nice stories and getting a butler changes everything but mostly they are helpful jags not diffetence makers. Just my opinion

My guess is Sergio Brown somehow got passed security and exacted revenge on Gronk. No?

Well I think with Chung they are putting him in situations that suit his strengths. Closer to the line and coverage is anything 15yds or in.

It's fair to make an observation, but to declare "not optimal" after it? I don't know, it just sounds alarmist to me.
Agreed, he was somehow trying to reach a conclusion based on on play. No reason for "not optimal".

Where are you hearing that? Which struggles? I've heard his punt catching had been solid.
