Oh, nice, the "let's blindly accept everything the GM does" routine.
The front office isn't always perfect. They misread the market on Bennett too. If we had waited longer, we could've had Bennett at 3/$21M; instead, we have Allen for 3/$17.5M, and lost ~40 spots in the draft when our 4th round pick became a 6th round pick. In hindsight, retaining Bennett at that price (after his market materialized and became more clear) would've been better than what we did.
Just because the Patriots are one of (if not the) best front office in the league doesn't mean they are infallible. It's possible for them to be the best at what they do and still have misteps.
And I'm hardly saying getting Gillislee is a bad thing. I love the acquisition. But given the cost, I think AP would've been an A+ move. Gillislee is like a B.
