Wasn't it last offseason when reports were coming out of Gillette that Mac and the offense were making great progress in the new BOB system....until later in training camp when actual hitting began and it was then reported the defense was ordered to dial it back because the offense was losing confidence from getting *****-slapped daily in 11 vs 11's.

The glass half full side of me is thrilled the rookie QB is dominating virtual sims...

Therefore......

Drake Maye, Tyquan Thornton, Keion White. But no discussion of the guy manning the blindside on the OL.

Cuz we ain’t got one LT except Calvin Anderson. And he comes with a giant asterisk.

Maybe we get a vet FA. Or the rookie RT successfully makes the switch. Or Chuks Okorafor still has the muscle memory playing LT in Kalamazoo during the Obama Admin.

Gotta solidify the OL to make this a viable season.

We had to “reach” in the second round for LT. We probably should have traded back more.

They said they tried to trade back at the Caedan Wallace pick but there were no takers.

I found this quote from Reiss to be a head scratcher only because I hardly know what it means; they've been talking Keion White up, but are these the criteria?

3. White's impression: When asked if he has been surprised by a player at this point, Mayo singled out 2023 second-round pick Keion White, the versatile defensive lineman from Georgia Tech who Mayo said is asserting himself more behind the scenes.

Coaches said White splits time between the defensive line and outside linebacker meeting rooms, and coordinator DeMarcus Covington relayed he has hit the three key targets they discussed at the outset of the spring: 1. Showing up; 2. Being present; 3. Staying consistent.

Because with no pads and no hitting it would be stupid to HAVE any discussions.

Zappe has many fans in Patriots Nation, and several of them are actively campaigning for him to be the starter this season. Ah…to put it politically correct, heck no. I was thinking about a more descriptive four-letter word. Well, you get the idea.
The coaches and front office knew what Zappe has to offer and brought in three quarterbacks this year. An established veteran in Brissett who has much more upside, the third overall pick (Maye) who is the quarterback of the future, and a late-round pick in Joe Milton who while raw, has some intriguing skills.
Zappe’s numbers were almost across the board to be inferior to the player he replaced, Mac Jones. Completion percentage, TD percentage, Interception percentage, Passing Success percentage, Yards per attempt, Yards per game, and Passer rating.
The Patriots made an investment in Maye, so how much longer will he lose reps to Bailey Zappe? They need to get him the work to prepare him (sooner or later) to become the starting quarterback.

Well said, Steve. Though I hope you sent Bailey and his fan club some neosoporin for that dose-of-reality burn you inflicted on him.

My 0.02, Brissett has no upside (he's 31 coming off a backup role to rookie who basically played worse than Zappe). Maye is going to play sometime this season, Yaye. Saying Milton raw is an understatement with no idea exactly what he has or what he will do with "it."

Zappe is mostly a lost cause and I have seen very little to no support for him to be on the team at all on this board. Some of you are suffering from PTSD I guess.

By that point Mac was already like Dave Chappelle... half baked... we know now he just wasn't the QB we needed him to be. However... I've got more faith in Drake than anything I've seen at the QB position since GOAT left.

My 2 cents... Maye will continue to grow more comfortable each day. We know Zapp is what, he is. Brissett is a veteran good locker room guy, mentor.

By middle of camp wouldn't surprise me at the least I'd Drake was looking like the starter.. I feel like this kids special.
