i think they are pretty much in the same boat as the jets. Both horribly run lacking talent and needing major turnarounds.

We will see. I agree they are horribly run, have a terrible owner. But there are a lot of pieces there. If you had your choice of one or the other, I don't think it's the coin flip you make it out to be. One roster is clearly better than the other today.

Whilst I agree in theory, can you imagine the dual threat of AP and TB behind the OL. Reputation counts for a lot in the NFL and the fear of All Day running over you means teams will need to stack the box which works to Brady's advantage or they drop more men into coverage fearing TB12 which opens up the box for AP.

That said, I'm fine with BB's low cost, platoon approach to the position.

First WR is the most overrated position in the field
Second when you have tom Brady he makes whoever you out at WR better. Since there is a finite amount of money to spend for the entire team I am worried more about improving the spots that tom Brady can elevate instead if spending money to help the one guy who doesn't need it.

i still don't understand why we would want him(cooks)? Who will he replace?

They claim we are interested in DeSean Jackson, feel like that's made up to gauge interest. Doesn't seem like our sorta guy. Probably expensive too. Could be wrong though.

The Raiders are a much more complete offense than anything the Vikings have ever had, he wouldn't be the focal point of the offense and could really excel, assuming he's fully recovered from his injury.. which I believe he has, because he came back towards the end of last season and could have played if they were a playoff contender

Not to mention Carr is significantly better than Bradford and Bridgewater.

I actually think he gets extended.

The real danger of letting him in the RFA market is he will know what he can expect next year so resigning him during the season will be harder.

Hopefully it works out but we can win with him and we can win without him.

No way to keep him out of the RFA market, short of not tendering and letting him hit the UFA market. If he wants to test the market you can't extend him as long as he refuses to sign the extension offer. And if he is determined to test the water you'll have to go to crazy money to convince him otherwise.

Doesn't appear to be much value in the market period, the free agents are as weak a class as I have seen and the releases are all coming off major injuries or still want the kind of money they were cut for.

Why not ? Curran mentioned Jackson long before we heard any tampering whispers so it looks like he had some inside info.

Either way, what it tells me (combined with the Cooks info) is that we are looking for a certain archetype of WR to have less issues against teams that take away the short passing game (Texans, Falcons until they got gassed).

The 'deep threat' folks here should be ecstatic.

Cooks would be a superstar for 4-5 years in a pats uniform.

Don't get me wrong. I know Cooks is awesome. But the asking price and the contract he'll demand in a couple of years makes it very unlikely he'll be a Patriot.

I mentioned Gabriel because he seems like the exact type of player the Pats love (versatile, quick, underutilized by their current team, unlikely to break anyone's bank).
