Peterson only wants 4-6 million per. Do it Bill

There were also many, many other 5-11 teams that continued to suck.
Its like saying every QB can play until 40 because Brady can.

But if the Chargers were capable of doing with their franchise what BB did here, then it would be possible.
I am saying the way they run their franchise IS the reason they will struggle for years.
If they hired BB tomorrow, would they make the playoffs in less than 5 years? Of course, but the fact that they operate the wrong way makes that statement pointless.

It's possible. But teams have quick turnarounds into the playoffs all the time, even ones with ****ty owners.

The 2015 Cowboys were 4-12, then became the #1 seed at 13-3 this season. The previous season, the 2015 Redskins won a terrible division at 9-7 after going 4-12 in 2014. Neither of those teams have particularly great owners.

It's not particularly likely, I agree. But anything is possible. I mean the Chargers had a top 10 offense in terms of points, and a bottom 5 defense. Their point differential was closer to an 8-8 team. They were 4-9 in one-score games. There's a lot of luck that could easily swing that the other direction quickly.

The other 5-11 team was the Jets, who finished 30th in points and 28th in points allowed, had a point differential of a 4.5 win team, and that's going 4-4 in one-score games. The Chargers were a completely different team, largely in part to the ridiculous amount of injuries they experienced, including injuries to Woody and Keenan Allen in the first two games of the year.

I'm not saying bet the farm on them making the playoffs, but I don't see why they can't be back in the playoffs in the next year or two. You make it sound impossible, when similar has already happened the past few years.

Marty's gone but we knew this. I don't understand the jackson rumors. Some team like the buccaneers will give him 12 mil per year. I have heard the eagles but do they have any money? He would have take a big paycut to come here.

Wow. Decent move. Shocked it isn't more. Bye Marty.

Isn't Escobar (formerly of DAL) available?

Why is it "Bye Marty"? Just curious. 6 million doesn't raise the TE ceiling, right?

If you don't want a pissed off Peterson at 2-3 million a year in base pay, than it's off the field concerns. He seems willing to do a low risk, prove-it contract.

Top 10 in scoring is blown away by 32nd (ie most) in turnovers.

I see a team being built the wrong way being cheap and lazy on coaching hires, screwing around with their draft picks causing holdouts and jacking a quality roster. I see a team that will ride a loser QB as he deteriorates even further. Oh yeah and they will be playing in front of what 15000 fans this year?
Everything that you need to do to turn around a bad team is just what that organization isn't doing.

Yes anything can happen but I predict based on all the facts that I see that this team will walllw in losing for at least 5 more years.

No but earlier Gresham got about $7M so it's closing in. It's close to the floor considering he outplayed Fleener who got 7M APY last year.

I get sick and tired of hearing how all these guys "want to play for a contender". Forte said that and....well.....Jest. Just be honest and say "straight ca$h Homie". I'd respect them a lot more if they did.

I'll answer that.
First WR is the most overrated position in the field
Second when you have tom Brady he makes whoever you out at WR better. Since there is a finite amount of money to spend for the entire team I am worried more about improving the spots that tom Brady can elevate instead if spending money to help the one guy who doesn't need it.

1. No way is WR the most overrated position. It's one of the most important in the NFL.

2. Brady is going to be 40. How many more years in a row do you expect him to carry this offense with his two best weapons Gronk as a huge injury question mark, and Edelman turning an age where most WRs fall of a cliff? Cooks or Jackson provides insurance. And most importantly it makes our team better. Makes our offense better.

Not a blocker..

Then for me it's down to Mychal Rivera and Jacob Tamme. Not sexy names by any stretch of the imagination but Rivera would be a good blocking type at 245 and 26 years old. A smalller, quicker option to pair with big Gronk. Tamme your quintessential backup TE. A meh there.

I think there's a lot of truth here. I'm probably higher on Rivers than you are. But the one thing I think we can both agree on is despite all that, they're still in better shape than the Jets, which is amazing and hilarious.

1) we totally disagree
2) 3-4 more and as I said I want to spend the money on areas where weak players there would hurt us not in areas where btady will succeed with whoever you put out there

Tamme could reportedly go with Shannahan.
Cook would be perfect here - wouldn't mind a big contract on him if Marty's gone.
From the youngsters I like Griffin.
Dolphins want to keep Sims - who could be a great pick-up here - but he was pretty outspoken wanting a starting gig..
