Rob Gronkowski Injury Update

I flew 6 and 1/2 hours to Ireland last fall with a half COLLAPSED right lung. The friggin' hysterics on this board are the ones that shouldn't fly....their fear would suck the oxygen out the cabin.

Well, WTF! That's you, Joe! Freakin' Rob Gronkowski ain't you! Illogical comparison...

Looks like he's out.

Sad to see that there will be no Gronk this Sunday. Here is a joke to cheer you all up:

How do you stop Kaepernick on 3rd down?

Play the national anthem and make him kneel!

No need. Especially if his lung is a little dinged up. Getting on a plan and dealing with pressurized/depressurized air cabins can't help the situation.
More than that, it can potentially be dangerous. The air between the lung and inner chest wall reduces available lung capacity. As pressure drops the air pocket increases in volume, further reducing lung capacity. Depending on the initial size of the air pocket that further reduction can cause problems.

Hogan is out too.

I assume Bennett and JE11 play, but Gronk and Hogan being out puts a dent in the passing game. Mitchell and Amendola were nearly invisible last week. Good week to get Dion back, but suspect he will be limited. Blount needs to rise to the occasion.

Gronk and Hogan both being out sucks a bit but Bennett and Edelman can carry the day okay. Add in some White/Lewis and give Amendola/Mitchell some looks and we should be fine.

This is actually a good chance to give Mitchell an extended look.

TFB has lots of motivation, many weapons and Belichick breathing down their necks. I cannot imagine it's been a pleasant week of practice.

I'd love to see Danny Amendola featured in this one. He's been an afterthought all season but can take on a big role with 9 to 10 catches from all over the formation.

I expect the defense to kick some ass in this one. They're healthy and have been doubted all week. As I said in another thread, I'd love to see the secondary up its aggressiveness, particularly in the pass rush. Kaepernick is precisely the guy to go after with safety and corner blitzes. He doesn't make good decisions and doesn't exactly have the most confidence right now.

You know, the Pats couldn't do that sort of thing against Russell Wilson. He impresses the hell out of me. Wilson may be #2 in the NFL in making quick, smart decisions based on what he sees. He was lights out against the Patriots. The only play where he made a bad decision was the intentional grounding in the 4th quarter. There were a couple of plays where he and his receiver or running back weren't on the same page, but overall he was spot on when choosing where to go with the ball.

Won't need that many receivers. Brady's only throwing 20-25 times. They are gonna pound the rock 40-45 times. 49ers run defense is TERRIBLE. Could be similair to that Jonas Gray game

49ers run defense allowing 5.1 yards per rush and 180 per game.

Fozzy Whitaker 16 rushes 100 yards
Christine Michael 20 rushes 106 yards
Ezekiel Elliot 23 rushes 138 yards
David Johnson 27 rushes 158 yards
Lesean McCory 18 rushes 140 yards
Jacquizz Rodgers 26 rushes 154 yards & Payton Barber 12 rushes 85 yards
Mark Ingram 15 rushes 158 yards & Tim Hightower 23 rushes 90 yards

Yea I figured something like that was happening but since I'm not a doctor I didn't want to talk our of school.

Yah, but you Da Man bro!

Gotta say that I prefer him to sit out until he is over that back problem over being a game time decision again and again. We got really lucky with the schedule this year. We could let both of them sit almost 3 weeks and still have a pretty good shot at winning all games easily.
