I couldn't agree more, and have been saying this for quite some time. I am shocked at how much some posters tend to overvalue the NFL trade compensation guidelines.
1st and 2nd round picks are not traded too often, and when they are they're for elite talent. Just because we saw someone give up a 2nd for Kevin Kolb (who at least had NFL starting experience at the time on some level) does not mean that is suddenly the current standard across the board.
I think that Mallett's highest upside would be a 4th or 5th round pick--and that's IF he progresses enough to warrant even that. All of this talk about high round picks is completely ridiculous.
Man....there is a lot of pipe dreaming going on today! Here's the reality...best u would get for Mallett would bbe a 6th or 7th...from an absolutely desperate team with very little other options. ...seriously, he has shown very little since becoming a pro...
