Should we give him a call??

can he play tight end?

Should we give him a call??

I can't see the team releasing AH due to his lifestyle choices ... ahem... and then signing someone who many reports indicate is somewhat unstable. A team going through this kind of mess the same season it has key injuries and has lost noteworthy leaders like Welker and Woodhead needs to get a hold of players that have a presence that can improve a lockerroom. (And yes, I know Tebow, but let's try and stay in step with reality about positions of need on the team... WR and TE.)

Could they do it? Yes, but I'm hoping they can mine better options than that.

I just mentioned him in the other thread. Knows the system. Will command coverage and is cheap.

Let him be a weirdo in the locker room. Just let everyone know not to get into deep conversations with him.

All he does is fall down after getting 5 yards. No thanks. Let some other guys have a chance.

Yep, this is how i see it as well. they released Lloyd because of who he is not because he couldn't play. Not that it means he is a criminal because he isn't, but he clearly isn't the kind of guy they want on their team. I think they don't see him as a winner and a hard competitor, and from all reports he is just a weird guy, and they want winners.

Brandon Lloyd averaged 12.3 ypc last season. Michael Jenkins averaged 11.2 and Donald Jones averaged 10.8.

The Patriots must have played every game in heavy rain conditions then, because he apparently slid 7.3 yards every time he fell. How else do you explain his 12.3 yards per catch average? Which, for reference, is .8 higher than Welker's last season (I hope I don't need the obvious disclaimer here...).

Something to consider with Brandon Lloyd, besides the erratic behavior that Greg Bedard reported.

Lloyd had two really big games last year - and the Pats lost both of those games. Remove those two games and Lloyd had 613 yards receiving, and his number of receptions drops to 55.

In the sixteen other games (including playoffs) Lloyd had only two games with over 70 yards receiving - and one of those was for yet another NEP loss.

While he was here the vast majority wanted him gone, labeling him a fall-down disappointment. Now that he's gone we want him back?

I don't think that it is unreasonable to believe that at least one of the other wide receivers already on the roster can step up and be as productive as he was - and that another can step up and be more productive than Deion Branch (145 yards) was as well.

Remember, all that matters is what stigma has been attached to a player on this forum. Nothing else such as statistics, ability, production, salary or familiarity with the system matters.

I don't recall that being the case.

Neither he, nor Welker, should ever have been 'allowed' to go.

Please list all the WRs currently on the roster (Amendola excepted as he's now being hailed as the upgrade to Welker ) who have demonstrated any real likelihood of exceeding Lloyd's numbers. Michael Jenkins career reception high is 53 and his career yardage high is 777 (the only time in 9 seasons that he's exceeded 700 receiving yards. Donald Jones has never caught even 50 passes or gotten even 500 yards in a season.

Sure, anything can happen, but let's be realistic about what's here.

Yard PER Catch or Yards AFTER catch?

I thought Hernandez allegedly murdered Lloyd. :bricks:

- Cherry picking doesn't work, take any players 2 best games away from him and he won't look nearly as good.

- Maybe their decision to want him gone was stupid. YAC is icing on the cake but catching the ball and moving the chains IS the cake. Seems pretty stupid to me to prefer no cake at all because you can't have good icing on it.

- What are you basing your reasonable belief on? The rookies haven't played a down of NFL football much less in the Patriots offense, and the vets haven't produced much in their NFL careers aside from Amendola.

I want the best players, and while Lloyd is unspectacular I still think he's the 2nd best receiver if he's on the team.

Lloyd had better numbers last year then David Givens or David Patten did during the 2004 season but guess what? .. I would take either "average" wide receiver over Lloyd in a heartbeat because he scares nobody and sucks in the clutch.

Atta boy. Just keep swallowing that Koolaid by the gallon rather than thinking for yourself and answering the question. :thumb:
