Chandler Jones - Does anyone have any guesses what's going on?

I think we're letting him rest in order to be 100% against houston. I agree with the move too.

Thanks. Always good to have an insider on the Board.

BB also stated that he was just focused on Miami because they do a lot of things well and have an athletic QB.

It has to drive the media crazy that the only changes to BB's statements are what team they are preparing for.

I wouldn't mind seeing a little more of Francis. I know he's green but he looks quick (at least he did on one play, lol).

I actually think the team will be holding out quite a few of the dinged up this week that they probably normally wouldn't have had there not been such an important part of the schedule coming up.

I got this from Belichick......... He's day to day.

I must have caught him in a good mood because he told me, Whatever's on the medical report, that's what it is.

He even smiled as he said it. Well, kind of..

Reiss was pretty adamant a few mintues ago on his chat:

West (Ridgefield, CT)

Mike the scene surrounding Chandler Jones' injury was odd looking when it happened. It looked to me that the trainers were examining his achilles not his ankle. Have you heard anything around the organization that would suggest that they are downplaying a significant injury? Any achilles injury, even a mild strain, is difficult to come back from due to the danger of rupturing a compromised tendon.

Mike Reiss (12:05 PM)

Not at all, West. I watched that injury closely while it was happening, and had my binoculars locked in the whole time on the sideline. That was a re-tape of the right ankle, no doubt in my mind. Jones has been around and those who have seen him say he's walking just fine.

Yeah - Achilles is the one I was worried about. I'm not a Brain Scientist but I thought I remember that an achilles tendon injury could 'look' fine or that a player could walk fine but certain movements were hard.

Or maybe I'm thinking of Turf Toe.

I am with the OP'er on this...I don't get it. From my seat in the family room, the TV coverage had a tight shot of his face, and he appeared to me to be speaking "pain free" (no wincing). He got up fairly quickly and walked to the sideline without a limp IMO. I said at that point "he'll be back in a play or two", and here we are, weeks later, and no Chandler Jones. I hate to be conspiratorial, but it seems there's more "afoot" here to me.

Jones (ankle) likely to miss Dolphins game

The injury is a mild high ankle sprain, not as severe as the one suffered by Aaron Hernandez in Week 2 against the Cardinals.

Thanks for posting Bfan, seems like pretty encouraging news to me.

I would think he can take this week off and that gives him 3 full weeks to heal for the Houston game, which should be enough. Hopefully

I'd rather have Jones fresh and available for the playoffs. It's a long season, especially for rookies going through their first NFL campaign.

Shalise just tweeted along with everyone else that Jones, Mankins and Gronk remain absent at Friday practice. But she added that she hears Jones is still in a walking boot.

this

blessing in disguise, going to keep him away from that rookie wall

i'd bet a shiny nickle he would have played last week were it a playoff game....probably would have retaped and been back in the game when he first tweaked it were it a playoff game

As long as he's healthy by the playoffs I'm good!

He has a lower leg injury. It is unlikely to require amputation.

As expected, DE Chandler Jones (ankle), TE Rob Gronkowski (forearm) & G Logan Mankins (ankle/calf) ruled out for Sunday's game. #Patriots

Need him for the playoffs and to a lesser extent the Texans game. Anyone else think our bench is deeper than expected after last game? Francis, Deaderick, and Scott are the type of guys that make sure the drop-off in performance is minimal. Say what you will about the secondary (safeties esp.) but when Chung and Gregory went down, the bench stepped up as well.

Not saying we have an amazing secondary, but I don't see a Sergio Brown out there.

I really hope he is able to play in the texans game. The guy is very raw but he is basically our pass rush.I still dont think the other guys are capable of rushing the QB in a consistent basis.

A rejuvenated, experienced and healthy Jones will help down the stretch.

Just have to hope he's ready to rock after this Sunday's game !!!

Well you're right. It's not even really debatable.
