I do believe the Patriots fans expectations are at a much higher bar than ours, but they are not spoiled. Its probably a combination of culture, and life experience.
Our culture is a little laid back, we tend to believe someone until they prove themselves wrong. We may banter about paytons decisions, but we also realize everyone of us would look like ,the fool in the room, talking football with sean. Everyone makes mistakes, so we are more likely to let those go and look to the positive. I think most of us were more happy that the boys made it that far 2x, than losing to a bad team, like Seattle, as long as they learn from it and it dosnt become a pattern. Plus we understand the realities of the game, you just cant lose that many key players and expect to much.
Not sure about the culture of N.E.
Our life experience in football was pretty bleak, so we see improvement. We are much more encouraged with what we see than angry at losing. I think were more apt to enjoy the time we have with Brees and being competitive than worrying about our future.
N.E. had a history same as ours, but that has long sense gone. Your pretty used to being talked about threw out the season. BB is pretty brilliant, and TB has amazing skill. 3 rings later Im sure its easy to forget the lull between championships, or past failures.
You expect more because your leadership has continually shown, it can deliver more, consistently. This year, for example, 14-2 with a young team and 1st seed. Pretty amazing considering , if you are using our offensive scheme, its pretty difficult to master with rookies. Your teams consistency is astounding at making the playoffs and winning rings.
It's not being spoiled, in our opinion, its just being a fan and having different expectations and cultures. Everyone gets disappointed , but you might be falling farther and harder than most. Because you have seen more than any of us has experienced. We just try to learn the lesson, and move on. um with a c@cktail or 2
