OT: McDaniels to Chargers, pre-game: "We own you!"

McDaniels' own account doesn't exactly make sense. If Phillips said what he said and the word "too", it means McDaniels was trash talking with him prior to Phillips' comment.

Even if his comments were as lame as he claims, it's still inappropriate that he said anything to Phillips in the first place. No mature coach would engage in something like this.

It also doesn't help that four days after this, he is filmed on Thanksgiving swearing on national TV:
Denver Broncos coach Josh McDaniels tells his side of trash-talking incident - ESPN

I agree that no mature coach would engage in something like this. But I can't imagine him starting it. I could see him not backing down though. The guy's intense and a bit crazy (good things, both of them).

As for the Turkey Day swearing, it's not fair to blame him for that. That was pretty mild compared coming from an NFL coach, and it's not his fault the NFL Network screwed up.

Josh McD needed to be a student of past Pats history when one of owner Billy Sullivans' cretinous sons, Pat, trash talked Oakland players with a disasterous result. Josh will learn. He's still in puberty.

Disastrous result to his head, but we won the game.

This is another reason that I hate the Chargers. Biggest smack talkers in the league. They were saying crap in the first meeting between these two teams. Phillips, who always seems to be in the middle of these things, said at first that it was all in good fun. Now the poor Chargers are making themselves the victims. They must get it from their coach, (or more like their crybaby running back).

I think McDaniels is taking the Broncos where they want to go. The trash talking is immature, but common among young and passionate coaches. He's one of the best coaches in the league IMO. I'd love to see him win that division.

Whaaaaa?????

Norv Turner???? Do you know anything about Norv Turner's personality?

I can't say I hate the Chargers, because they're always good to knock the Colts out of the playoffs.

I will never forgive Josh for his unsportsmanlike crap after the Denver loss

No. I am being sarcastic. This is what Lady Tomlinson said when the Patriots were celebrating on their field after we beat them in the playoffs. Don't tell me you forgot that. This whole thing with McDaniels is very similar IMO. The Chargers talk smack. Their opponent gives it back to them. The Chargers whine about it, Same old story.

I had suspected this about him when he coached here, and his antics since he's left have confirmed this aspect of his personality. He's an immature punk. He may be a sharp coach, but the common denominator has been him in feuds with Cutler and Phillips, and I also completely agree about his over the top behavior after beating the Pats earlier.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 07 running the score issues were also McDaniels-influenced.

There really should be a heavy fine/suspension for players who go over to opposing teams side during warm ups to talk trash. Phillips wasn't the only guy to do this.
Just off the top of my head...Joey Porter is/was like this.
If the league started handing out suspensions for this behavior, I'm sure it would happen a lot less.

How was he unsportsmanlike?

Some people really are over-sensitive. The guy was delighted at a huge overtime win over his mentor and celebrated as such but has been nothing but respectful towards BB in the media and we have no reason to believe that's not the case in private also.

Agreed. He's a very young, 1st time HC who knows better than most the superb quality of the HC and QB he defeated that day. Celebration was in order. Judge him by his thoughtfull and respectfull statements, not by one instance of momentary elation. Like judging BB's character by his demeanor after a crushing loss vs his body of work. Humans have emotions which sometimes over ride concerted thought.

How dare a guy be excited about a huge win over his mentor early in his head coaching career

Like I said, massively over-sensitive. How DARE he animatedly celebrate a huge win, disgraceful!

Grow up, you're acting like a 6 year-old. Or a Jets fan.
