Patriots debacle woke up Cardinals

Motivation to get better after you are humbled by 40 points apparently was the turning point for the boys from the desert

Maybe if Arizona wins the Super Bowl Belichick will get a thank you letter from Whisenhunt for beating his team to a pulp in December

I hope AZ wins the superbowl, then Baltimore, then Phily then the Steelers.

So if Arizona wins the Super Bowl, that will be two teams in two years that can thank us for giving them motivation for a Super Bowl win. The '07 Giants and the '08 Cardinals. It's just too bad that one came at our expense.

I guess I'm an optimist, but, if you keep being the team people point to that made you feel good because they almost beat you, or that pounded you and woke you up, you'll probably soon get back to the promised land yourself.

In 06 we knocked on the door.
In 07 we pounded on the door.
On 08 we're going to kick the sonuvab!tch in.

I myself is definitely a Cards fan this weekend-NO WAY I ever root for Philly.

Again-hardly anyone's giving them a chance against the Eagles.(including myself) However-it was the same story prior to the Falcons game, and then everyone thought Carolina would win by upteen points. I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled off another one tomorrow.

I remember that game-the Pats had control of it until Antwoine Smith fumbled at the goalline toward the end of the 1st half-otherwise, it would have been 14-3, and no way the Rams are able to utilize their passing game the rest of the way in that freezing weather.

Good memory. Rams marched right down the field and scored after that. Which now that I think of it is much like what happened in SD this year.

Of course, Bertrand Berry had to go and poke the bear:

"Not to bring them up," Berry said, "but they went 11-5 and are sitting at home right now, getting ready to watch us play for the chance to go to the Super Bowl. That's got to hurt, man."

I hope he realizes he just asked for an even worse b****slapping the next time they face the Patriots. And Lord knows, Bill Belichick can carry a grudge with the best of them. Just ask Brad Childress.

I still can't believe that Arizona is in the championship game...

They play in the worst division, ever and I don't think any of the teams in their division has ever won a game against the Pats in recent memory.

As far as the recent game ... pl...zz.. it was a massacre from the get go and they just rolled over and died. If the NFL allowed them to throw in the towel at half-time, I believe they would have done so.

Did they get even one first down the entire first half ? Maybe one .. I don't recall ... It seemed as if the Pats O was on the field for the entire half and by then, the game was practically over.

This year has been a bummer... That stupid Favre... couldn't win one game !
The Dolphins got lucky and we got unlucky...

Well, I guess there's always next year

Have they played in decent weather since? I still remember their faces from that game, they were too busy thinking about home time and cuddling up like penguins. They didn't want to be in Foxborough one, single, bit.

Yeah, CHB actually has a decent column about the AZ-Pats game.....hard to believe that team could be in the Super Bowl as of today.

Gee... I'm wondering if I'll watch the SB if Az makes it today... What a joke that would be !

Let's face it, that game shows what can happen in the NFL if you're not totally motivated.

I do think the patriots are a better team, but they're not that much better.

This is why we can look like crap one weekend but not the next.

AZ played a heartless game when we beat them 47-7 so that did not display their potential. If they win today and in two weeks it will be a good thing. The Ravens & the Steelers remind me of the crips and the bloods so go Cardinals!

This could (too early to tell, obviously) be the second year in a row that an out-of-conference loss to the Patriots has been the catalyst for the Super Bowl Champions.
