Can the thread police calm down now that it is the offseason?

Well, if more folks like yourself used the forums as they're intended, those numbers might change. Suffice to say that most folks come to the Pats forum for Pats news. All you have to do is click on a link to find other subject matter. It's not that hard.

Patriots Fan Forum

That's the name of the main forum, not "Just Patriots stuff, even if it's made up". I find it amusing to read people acting as if posting something that's not directly associated with the Patriots when it's a slow period is going to bring on the apocalypse. There are threads on the first page of the main board that haven't had a comment put in them in over 24 hours. The world won't end if they get pushed to page 2 because people want to talk about "Pistol Marv" Harrison.

On the surface it seems like a good idea to lay off, but if you do that, then people won't know what to do/where to post during the regular season. If there's a rule, enforce it all the time, not just some of the time, otherwise it's not much of a rule at all. Plus, if it wasn't enforced at all then it would take forever to sift through all the crap/non-Patriots related threads. Logging on just now, I saw that several threads were moved. I think once a thread is moved it shouldn't show up in that thread any longer... or if there was someway to just move it to the bottom of the page even, but oh well... Just my two cents

Great, then let's have a thread in the main forum about what the whether is like where all Patriots' fan live.

I just noticed this got moved to The Help Desk LMAO

I've had discussions with Ian in threads in the past about excessive forum segregation. Obviously to little avail.

He's just lucky there really are no other legit MB options now that KFFL is so dead.

The real problem though, IMO, isn't the threads or separate forums: it's that moderators get the power to move threads and it suddenly turns into the Stanford Prison Experiment around here ...

I think it's important to keep Patriots talk segregated.

Why?

Are you afraid Other posters might enjoy what the original poster posted?

Seriously, why is it important?

I have always been in favor of democracy in threads. If no one's interested, the thread goes away.

JMO but I've started liking the NFL forum, maybe because it's getting more active I don't know, but during the season I didn't check it out much at all and now that I am, I like it.

But if the original threads weren't in the main forum to begin with, I might/probably wouldn't, have gotten into the NFL forum. Now that I have though, I usually give it a quick look whenever I'm here. It's weird but when the Pats are having a rough patch or whatever, I like talking about general football or another team's news at times.

It's really easy to go to the appropriate board. Best not to have the board get into bad habits IMO or next season could get ugly with re-training necessary.

Are we going to be retrained next season?

can we move this thread to where it belongs? -- the pub. it is not about Patriots football.

:disagreement::banned:
Yes, it's more important that we retain honest Patriot news such as, "Happy Birthday, Pierre Woods!!!"

Hopefully this thread's trailer will stay in the main forum for a while. I don't usually go to the help forum for conversation.

I'm really only a Pats fan, so once a thread is moved out of the main forum, it's pretty much deleted for me.

I have ventured into the draft forum, but there are a ton of specialized draft sites that time of year so it's not really a priority.

I like general pats related talk with the posters I have come to know. Just my two cents.

Like Belichick says, every season is a new season. But off season work helps you be ready

When it comes to forums, I'm pretty much uncoachable. I go to the forum that's the busiest. If there's nothing going on, I go to a different web site.

I was wondering where it would go.

Pedants Unite!

Stop beating around the bush. Which mod is the primary custodian of the Patriots Fan Forum? And which mod does most of the moving and merging? And do such actions adhere to Ian's rules and/or guidelines?

I think there's a new mod

FWIW it is annoying to have to go to other forums particularly when threads that you were following get moved and you 'forget' about them. I'm interested in the Patriots 1st and other related teams 2nd and then the NFL. Only non-football topics should be 'moved' otherwise let the site's customers (the readers & posters) decide if a thread lives or not. Personally I hate the trade Brady thread but I can live with the fact that others like it. BFD.

Patriots football does not have to be interpreted to 3 decimal places. The Pats exist in the environs of the NFL as a whole and are affected by coaching and player decisions throughout the league.
