Oold enough to know Connors used to have McEnroe for lunch,
You're a little boy with no idea what he's talking about. McEnroe was a former #1 ranked player with 7 singles grand slams and 9 doubles grand slams. Hardly a stretch to call him an all time great.
There are lots of other examples of star athletes in other sports, who acted like complete arses and sore losers. Our own Patriots QB was known as being one of the biggest sore losers while as a youth and teen.

[When you caused a controversy by storming off the court after Game 6 and refusing to attend your press conference, you did something even better: You brought us back to the days when "rivals" didn't hug each other like Red and Andy after every game, when NBA stars actually took losing personally and treated their peers like enemies instead of friends. I loved it. That was an old-school move. And as reader Brian Naftaly points out, you accomplished something even better: You made your teammates cover you in the postgame press conference, marking the first time all series they did something or helped you in any way. That was genius. Hold your head up high, LeBron James. You could not have done more with the possible exception of coaching the team … and really, that might not have been a bad idea.]

Thank you Mr. Simmons! My thoughts exactly.
Was it right? Of course not. Is it comforting seeing players get as upset after a loss as you or me do? Yes.
It sickens me seeing players hugging and laughing after an elimination loss, probably making future party plans at their $10 million dollar homes. Love seeing a guy who genuinely cares about winning and losing.

Christ, are you still flapping your gums Eisenhower? And I say gums because it's probably too early in the day for you to put your teeth in.
Give it a rest, noone cares what you think.

You obviously are just a little kid who has no clue who John McEnroe is. He IS one of the all time best in tennis, child.
You are making our point, though.
John McEnroe's legacy is of a whiny rebellious clown & an angry caricature.
Very, very few people remember McEnroe for this tennis skills first and foremost.
Why? Because of his behavior. And if Lebron is going to act like a selfish punk who throws his teammates under the bus, then Lebron's legacy will be affected as well.
Again, you keep citing Brady as a sore loser, and you have no examples.
Furthermore, I think everyone here has said the hand-shake is not as big a deal as the failure to own up to the loss amongst the media, and pushing that responsibility onto his teammates by not talking in the presser.

Unless this is satire, Bill Simmons continues his epic fail. The Sports Guy has not made a good point in ages. Lebron is the star of the team, the best player on the team, he has to be in that post-game presser, he has to be the face of the team. It doesn't matter if he played better than his teammates, he's supposed to.
Pierce, KG, Allen, the leaders on the Celts would never do that. Its the definition of throwing your team under the bus, and in a team sport like basketball, no matter how good you are, if your team doesn't win, you have to include yourself in the blame.

Excellent points all around part II; I really hope that is satire. And you are correct in that Simmons is basically a hack anyway.............

Dude, after getting completley hammered on logic you continue to rant.
John F'n McEnroe? Wait........Tom Brady as a youth, a teen....................

Quiet Scout; it's nappy time at the old age home where Maverick lives, although I'm not sure what color the sky is exactly in la la land, aka, Maverickworld.
LeBron James=John McEnroe.........proceed to laugh your nutsack off at the logic behind that brilliant comparison........
