Needless to say the people who reply to trade suggestions with "We can't trade him because he hasn't signed yet" should know that it's a BS technicality. He'll sign once a trading partner has been found and he knows he'll get his $8M+ a year deal with the new team.

Because he has to sign in order to be traded, Mankins has a de facto "no trade clause". BB can't just decide that he's going to ship Mankins off to Detroit, because Mankins can tell BB & Co. to go pound sand.

That's not a "BS technicality", by any stretch of the imagination.
