Harry is the opposite of a "boom or bust" pick. That would have been DK, Butler etc
Harry checks almost every box you want. Metrics/production, age, traits/skill set ...
He was one of the safer picks on the board & definitely WR & I'm not a RB/WR Rd1 guy.

Even if this were true, they’ll come up with ways to get him open. I can’t imagine that guys like Edelman and Amendola were considered to be good at getting separation, and yet they thrived here, and not necessarily “just” from the slot.

As you insinuate with your comment, it’s just something the talking heads seem to parrot. We’ve had plenty of examples of scheme adjustments and routes that were specifically designed to mask this weakness. Look at most of the possession receivers. They weren’t exactly torching their guys in man coverage.

Edit: Hell, even Josh Gordon wasn’t getting much separation, and he was still a nice weapon when he played.

Blocking, tracking the ball at its high point, providing a big red zone target with his physicality, and he supposedly (according to him) was able to break down the plays and specific responsibilities that they quizzed him on during the pre-draft visit.

As others have said, this was likely the safest pick out of the WR group, at least in the first few rounds. There was an obvious need to get younger, stronger, and deeper with some young talent in the draft. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of rumors that they were strongly considering Williams at 32, and they were able to trade back up at 45 to get him. If you don’t care for the pick, you can simply pretend they took Harry at 45, instead.

The phrase "catching radius" may be in vogue again.. difficult not to like this pick, with the cost of quality WR's he is essentially under contract for up to 5 years... I like it.
