Very very late thread about CBS broadcast of Super Bowl

I hate Buck because he is a try-hard bobblehead with 3 day facial hair every day.
That being said............give me "less is more" every day of the week.
Collinsworth has his moments but he, like too many announcers these days, becomes too sanctimonious at times playing up irrelevant dramas ESPN-style

On another note, I would love these networks to expand their coverage with field level live shots looking down the LOS ...seeing the hand to hand combat, sensing the real time speed of the game. Pictures over words...all day

Don't know why this just occurred to me, but does anyone agree that Aikman and his sidekick were practically comatose during the 4th quarter. Such a blah reaction to an unbelievable 20 minutes of football. I know Collingsworth isn't a favorite around here but imagine if NBC did the game. He would have freaked out and at least been in tune with the magnitude of the comeback, and his enthusiasm would have driven the viewer tension even higher. Aikman has the personality of wallpaper.

Buck was as animated as I've ever heard him in the 4th quarter/OT.

Collinsworth would have been better but Buck and Aikman were pretty good in the Super Bowl.

Yeah jimnance.

Imagine the ripping cosell would have put on seattle and atlanta.
LMAO.

Something like this... The falcons are no longer the victory hungry stallions that we once knew..but a pathetic, washed up group of hobos who should bag groceries for a living. The so called mvp is only the champion of choke. A defense beaten and dragged around by brady like sniveling dogs being kicked by a cruel master..i just dont know about their fates..

I think Buck is the best play by play guy in the biz these days.

I can't think of a color guy I like at all. No offense.

Not even sure I would have noticed anyone given the way the game was going. My house could have been on fire and it still would have been me and the tv/game.

I was in the zone and it was glorious

They could have been announcing in Chinese for all I cared about them.

Buck was pretty animated the entire 4th Quarter and Overtime. Not sure where the complaints about him are coming from.

On the other hand, yes Aikman was about as monotone as it can get. But he's always that way so it's not a big surprise.

Personally I'd rather listen to Buck/Aikman than Nantz/Sims, Michaels/Collinsworth or McDonaugh/Gruden any day of the week.

Theres a video on youtube where an atlanta fan keeps slapping and shaking the tv as of it were messing up while the comeback was coming down. I gotta find it and post it here.

And yeah, it wouldnt have mattered what language they spoke. I had this sensation close to pain going on because the excitement was intense but i also feared falling short and all the crap id have to listen to if brady failed to actually win.. Its hard to really explain this with clarity as it was a situation that only happens like every twenty years like the fates are messing with the gears of the universe...i dont know...

I cut the cable years ago. I listen to the games on radio. It's really enjoyable: Socci tells you what's going on, and Zo does his frantic stream-of-consciousness thing. (It's fun listening to him strain not to go F-bomb over the officiating.) Listening to the Pats takes me back to listening to Bob Wilson do the Bruins games on radio back in the 70's: one of my fondest sports memories. I have Game Pass to watch the games after the fact, but I hardly ever do.

It's a sad commentary when guys making better than a megabuck a year get kudos (Buck & Aikman) because they didn't bring up total BS like Brady deflating balls during a SB record setting comeback, q.v. vs Seattle. Coll's off topic chatter ruined the broadcast forever.

Uhhh, QM , wtf are you disagreeing with? Just curious.

I am extremely critical of Fox but they were much better than Michaels and Collingsworth, who, in one of the darkest moments I have ever witnessed insinuated that Btady WAS a liar, as did Michaels. As a mater of fact, I would give the scum that did this SB a much higher mark than the scum who did SB49.

Damn, that sounds like Howard. You his brother?

Jimnance.

Nope, not his brother. I just used to watch the wide world of sports in the seventies. He would also do football games and my dad hated him for always insulting everyone in some way but i thought it was hillarious. He had no mercy and would just verbally shread teams, coaches and especially muhammed ali...i guess he really hated him.
