Re: UDFA news thread

OK, it's get to know your rookie WRs time! Quiz yourself: which is Taylor Price, and which is Bryan Anderson?

Price on the right, Anderson on the left

UDFA Bryan Anderson - 6'5 WR from CMU

Came across this in the PFW blog:

Central Michigan receiver Bryan Anderson (6-5, 214). He was a favorite target of quarterback Dan LeFevour, whom the Bears drafted over the weekend. Anderson was second in receptions on last year’s Chippewa team, totaling 64 receptions for 784 yards and seven touchdowns.

Probably nothing special, but his size really stands out to me and could set him apart on the roster. Anyone know anything about him? Is he a special teamer? Candidate to maybe take an Aiken/Stanbeck spot?

We all know at least one UDFA makes it every year so who knows ....

Good size, could possibly cause red zone mismatches in the future. I think he's practice squad material this year, and then possibly part of the future with Price, Tate, Edleman and next year's #1 (wouldn't be surprised if we use one of our #1's on a WR).

Despite being a 6'5" white guy, he's got some good wheels, and his hands are frigging superb. He set an NCAA record with the Chippewas, something like a reception in 54 consecutive games.

He didn't run many routes because of the offense, but he caught most things that went his way, and he formed a heck of a duo with Antonio Brown.

I wish the young man the very best of luck.

But -- just for the name -- I'm sorry we didn't sign his teammate, Frank Zombo:

Our loss is Packers' fans gain ...

Re: UDFA Bryan Anderson - 6'5 WR from CMU

There's always a chance he starts opening day across Randy Moss as our own Marques Colston, but I wouldn't count on him making the team.

Re: UDFA news thread

If he made the practice squad he would have made 90k that year, if he made the roster he would make 285k as a rookie. The peanuts he would make during camp is relatively small compared to what he would have made playing, pretty good scratch for a kid right out of college, and that would have gone a long way towards paying for his grad school education.

He has some skills, both us and Indy had him over and worked him out and apparently at least 5 teams wanted to sign him as a UDFA. It just makes me sick that someone with so much potential throws it away over so little.

Take a look at this video, it's pretty clear that going to the NFL is what he wanted.

Grad school education is already paid for by the school. But maybe he could have gone to school in style, driving up to class in a Corvette.

Re: UDFA Bryan Anderson - 6'5 WR from CMU

Yeah but can he rush the passer?

Re: UDFA Bryan Anderson - 6'5 WR from CMU

He's pretty smart in figuring out that signing with the Pats presented him with one of his better shots at making an NFL roster at WR.

Re: UDFA Bryan Anderson - 6'5 WR from CMU

Any stats on his vert?

Oooooo a Colston comp. Don't do this to me.

Pro-Day: 03/24/10
Height: 6050
Weight: 214
40 Yrd Dash: 4.58
20 Yrd Dash: 2.63
10 Yrd Dash: 1.60
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 12
Vertical Jump: 37"
Broad Jump: 10'07"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.24

A member of the All-MAC team for the fourth consecutive season...WR Bryan Anderson enters the MAC title game with an NCAA record 52 consecutive games with a reception. He extended that streak to 54 games in the MAC title game victory over and Central Michigan's bowl victory over Troy. Twice Academic All-MAC, carried a 3.24 GPA.

I give this kid as good chance at making the roster as 3rd round picks Taylor Price and Brandon Tate. Second to Mardy Gilyard, this was my preferred WR for the NE offense.

What did you like about him that made you think he's a good fit in the NE offense? I honestly see no reason why he (or any other UDFA WR that can contribute on ST) couldn't beat out Aiken.

Figure to start the season the WR corps could stack up as:

Moss
Holt
Edelman
Tate
Price
UDFA WR/Aiken/Stanbeck

I definitely think they keep six to start the year, and by the time Welker is ready to come off PUP someone will have washed out or been IR'd.

Anderson is my binky too but I will let BOR list his reasons. However, Anderson will not be competing with Aiken for a roster spot, because Aiken is in ST and a captain there as well. He would have to displace someone in the upper end of the WR roster.

Re: UDFA Bryan Anderson - 6'5 WR from CMU

Great size, great speed, and he can jump. He's definitely got a chance as a special teamer.
