Is Harold Landry done in NE?

Pardon my add on. But we really don't need the Ghost of Harold out there not making plays.
He shouldn't be brought back until the knee is fully healed... week 8 9 10 or whatever... let another player take those reps until he is good & ready to go... don't need a Gimpy McKnee out there

Very intrigued to see Elijah Ponder this year in a regular capacity.

Landry will be out there. Vrabel will manage the knee if necessary. Knees can take 6 months, so it might be a natural healing timeframe. We will see, but they definitely need another EDGE and they are convinced that Landry will be more than Swinson was going to be.

There's a lot of mileage on them knees.

A LB with a Knee problem is alike a WR with one; it's just a matter of time. What happens when a gimpy knee LB get's run at?? They end up in the medical tent. I'm not optimistic about Landry.

All depends on the injury.
Landry's not recovering from a tear or anything, he's bone-on-bone - that **** doesn't get better, it's all pain management until the inevitable end.

There is no reason to be optimistic, but he could be servicable. We don't know. Probably not what he was, but the staff thinks he is better than putting in time with Swinson.

Like Tavai last year, if he is serviceable, he would be a better choice that say counting on Hutchins.

It costs nothing to play Landry this year.

After the season, the team will end his contract which pays him $14.5M of new money for 2027. The $4M of dead money is irrelevant, just what's left of accounting for his signing bonus.

If he is fully recovered, he could be re-signed to a new, lower value contract, more likely not.

He isn’t bone on bone. Bone on bone requires a knee replacement and you can barely walk.

Interestingly enough your statement isn't quite true. 15-40% of severe grade 4 osteoarthritic arthritic changes in a knee (bone on bone) are completely asymptomatic. However you are correct that many others can have severe pain and disability and require a prosthetic knee. The correlation between radiographic findings and symptoms in musculoskeletal conditions is poor.

I can't imagine it is helpful to have severe changes as a professional sportsman in the nfl though. They also have a habit of flaring up if you twist them up and bang them, and they take ages to settle again.
