While it remains unknown officially who is taking over the starting quarterback job in 2020, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman may have dropped another hint over social media Tuesday.

On Instagram, the ever crafty graphic artist Edelman shared a photoshopped image of himself and Cam Newton as Superman and Batman.

Newton, of course, gained the Superman nickname during his Carolina Panthers tenure, and celebrated touchdowns by mimicking a reveal of the costume under his uniform.

“The night is darkest just before the dawn. And I promise you, the dawn is coming,” Edelman wrote in the post, quoting “The Dark Knight”.

Speaking with WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” this past Friday, Edelman had nothing but high praise for Newton.

“He’s definitely a former MVP for a reason. The guy is a professional. He works his tail off. He’s extremely dynamic and he’s got a charming personality. It’s been fun to be around. He has a confidence about him — all quarterbacks have a confidence, but it’s just a little different with Cam. It’s a vibe that can feel you and get you in a mindset. It’s been fun.”

Presently, Newton appears to be the leader to land the starting quarterback job with Jarrett Stidham battling a hip injury that could prevent him from being 100% for “several weeks” despite still practicing this week.
