Ty Law: Guaranteed Pats wouldn't have won the SB with Brady in 2020

Ty clearly has not thought this through...

Swop out Cam with Brady and the Patriots would have won the division AGAIN! Denver, San Fran and Buffalo x2 all wins. That's 11-5 with the tiebreaker over Buffalo.

I believe that would have lined them up with Cleveland in the wild card... WIN!
Then KC... Brady > Mahomes in postseason... WIN!
Another AFCCG at Gillette... opponent?... wouldn't have mattered... WIN!

Super Bowl opponent? Well, we know it wouldn't have been Tampa Bay. Probably New Orleans completely reduced to screens and check-downs or Green Bay with their version of Peyton Manning... Patriots win on another Brady game-winning drive (to make it 7-for-7 in that category)... WIN!

They'd have made the playoffs with Brady, just as they did last season. Then it would have a question of matchups, injuries, and luck.

But, of course, the same people who have spent this year saying things like "They almost had it this year. They beat the Ravens, and they almost had the Seahawks, and they were close with the Chiefs into the 4th quarter" will now insist that Brady would have had no shot.

The Patriots lost 4 games in a row with outrageously incompetent quarterback play. Literally 1 TD and 9 INT's. The last 3 of those losses the opposing quarterbacks were throwing 0 TD's and 5 INT's. There is no way a Brady-led team is losing those 3 games. Brady is also a sure bet to beat Buffalo in Gillette.

The Patriots were ABSOLUTELY winning the division with Brady and there is no team in the AFC postseason that they couldn't have beaten. Brady is 2-0 against Mahomes in the postseason and as an underdog no less. Rex Ryan, who was taking a big steaming dump on Belichick all season, was virtually the only pundit picking Tampa Bay in the Super Bowl.

Who really thought Brady would win 3 road playoff games and beat 3 former Super Bowl MVP's and future hall of famers to win his 7th Super Bowl at age 43? Anyone? He did it too with a donkey for a head coach who he's transforming into a hall of fame HC.

So anyone "guaranteeing" the Patriots wouldn't have won the Super Bowl with Brady in 2020 is a fool.

The defense was almost last in 3rd down run defense and red zone run defense.... we had no chance last season with Hightower and Chung gone plus Collins and Van Noy

The 2020 defense was 7th in the NFL in scoring allowed, while that 2011 defense was 15th. Brady got that 2011 defense to the SB, and was basically an unfortunately timed trio of drops from dragging that defense all the way to the title. Why pretend certainty about the possibility of him getting the 2020 defense there? It's nonsensical.

The best Brady could do over the second half of 2019 was about 150 yards and 1.5 TDs per game. The team was one and done in the playoffs despite an elite defense. The surrounding offensive talent got worse in 2020. Plus re-signing Brady would have forced the team to let go of Thuney and McCourty.

Considering these realities, through what kind of sorcery would Brady have played better with the Patriots in 2020? What additional games does this team win?

Denver? Sure. Let's say Brady is able to finish the comeback.

Buffalo 1? Absolutely. No chance in hell Brady fumbles that ball.

KC? Not likely. The defense did an admirable job holding KC to 26, and Brady is that many orders of magnitude better than Hoyer/Stidham, but if scoring 27 was such a struggle in 2019, what makes one think he could do it in 2020 with worst offensive talent?

Seattle/Houston? Nope, Cam was lights out those weeks.

San Fran/LA/Buffalo 2? Those games were straight up, full team blowouts. Brady would not have made the difference without decent talent surrounding him.

Miami 2? Brady couldn't win in Miami in December with an elite offense.

So the ceiling with Brady at QB is 9 - 7, a grueling 9 - 7, with an even pissier and more ineffective Brady.

Despite Belichick being a complete louse as a GM, which you're aptly referring to, Brady still would have dragged Belichick on his coattails to a championship like he did for the past two decades. It's not like we haven't seen it before.

You truly are living in a world of your own.
Did you have some point to make? Because your comment seems pretty worthless. Which perhaps is you sticking to form?

So Brady's "ceiling" is 9-7? He was 9-7 ONCE in his entire career. He's an automatic 10 wins with any current roster in the NFL. Belichick is a loser but he's not dragging Brady down to 7-9. Did you not pay attention to the 2020 season? Brady took a loser franchise that was 7-9 in 2019 and made them a Super Bowl champion. He certainly could have been capable of the same in New England, however, some douche didn't want to give him a chance.
