Two Major Issues Have Been Solved

They lost last year's RB1. They haven't replaced him. The result of this is that, as of now, the team would have to insert a player who couldn't crack the lineup last year as his replacement.

That's a problem, regardless of how often you try tossing out irrelevant cop outs like "90 guys!" or "Team!" or "Rookie RBs!".

Rex Burkhead was the Patriots goal line back when all was said and done. Dion only worked between the redzones. Rex can do everything Dion can do, maybe not as quickly but in a bigger body. Dion only stayed healthy one season, lets not complain about Rex's one season where he got dinged up.

You have no idea what the hell you're talking about. I've been one of this board's biggest champions for Burkhead, from the very beginning.

Because he did play poorly.

And you minimize the importance of thinking beyond "Team did it, it must be freakin' brilliant!". No team in the NFL is going to make my dead grandmother an NFL level cornerback.

If Andrew Luck landed in a good organization he'd be on the Peyton Manning track right now instead he's seeing a specialist in Oslo who's shoving stem cells in him in order to regrow a spine

You can keep spouting this nonsense all you want. It doesn't mean anything to the issue at hand. And Luck is in the same organization that Peyton Manning was in.

Did I say you weren't?

You say Shelton played poorly, I disagree. A nose tackle will disappear on a crappy team, his stats were inline with a good nose tackle on a bad team. If you watch film it's obvious the guy needs to be double teamed, so does Malcolm Brown, Valentine needs to prove it again but he was that in 2016 as a very young rookie which is impressive. We can agree to disagree.

I think it only makes sense that if someone is going to register a "dislike" or "disagree," they should follow up with a post explaining why.

It's a gutless click of the mouse - like a hit and run driver.

From the perspective of someone that's new to this particular forum I'd play devil's advocate on at least part of the thought process there. Some posts/posters are so manifestly douchey no explanation should be needed. Did Stevenson at his most Stevensonian really merit extended engagement? Are you really advocating feeding a troll? Or indulging someone that's spoiling for an argument just because they are ill bred or mannered? Understanding it's the nature of being on a sports forum to engage in discussion doesn't mean every douche needs or merits engaging. Sometimes a simple dislike/disagree is certainly preferable to a bunch of no/u posts.

Bringing back Brittle Burkhead hardly solves the problem at RB. It helps, but the team still needs to invest more capital (whether that's another FA or a draft pick is anyone's guess) at the position. I would be surprised if Gillislee is still on the team in 2018.
Let’s hope for some better health from Burkhead, because I think we’d all agree that he looked good in the majority of his playing time.

As you’ve mentioned, none of it solves the problem at RB, although it’s good that we didn’t lose both of Lewis + Burkhead.

What’s the psychology behind taking posts on a message board personally?

... lets not complain about Rex's one season where he got dinged up.

Show me where I complained about Rex's one season where he got dinged up in any way that would be relevant to this thread.

But it's not asinine to hope that maybe this year's injury bug doesn't take our top receiver, another really good young receiver, our best and most important defender, our top-tier right tackle, two of our top three rookie prospects, a second linebacker (who we were counting on to help replace a guy who unexpectedly retired), or doesn't reduce our NT to a shell...

I’ve got a lot of explaining to do.

I like the anonymity of drive by clicks. Don’t give many dislikes tho, takes too much energy. If someone says dumb stuff I ignore it unless it’s so dumb it leaves me no choice lol

Yes it will look different. I think it may show in the win Collumn too

I wasn't commenting on your assessment of Rex as much as your pronouncement Dion was the RB1. The guy has been healthy one season and only because he was on a snap count.

Dion was the RB1. That's beyond question.

The guy has been healthy one season and only because he was on a snap count.

Why do you feel the need to keep building straw men?

The health issue has nothing to do with anything in this thread. The problem at RB is still there. Signing Burkhead to a deal solved the "Burkhead is not signed" problem. It did not solve the "We lost Dion Lewis, who was the team's best RB" problem.

Solving the Deion Lewis not being here problem ain’t happening. There’s not a running back in the draft or anywhere for that matter who runs like Lewis. Barry Sanders 2.0

Dion was the smallest guy in the NFL, he started 19 games in five seasons, he started 16 games once last season, he had 180 carries.

It is definitely an issue as to who returns kickoffs but we have at least a few good RB's who can take his snaps. We can find guys in the draft or vets looking to win. We still have a roster spot to fill, it's not an emergency.
