Tom Brady reaffirms plan to play beyond 2019

This would be an interesting poll question.
Everyone wants Tom to finish his career here. No question on that.

but sorry.....No way in hell i'm not sitting through a 4-12 season watching Tom suck for the sole purpose of seeing him finish his career in a Patriots uniform when I can have fun with a 14-2 season with a kick ass defense.

While I’m pretty sure Brady will be back for 2019, I also bet we don’t know he’s done until after a season is over, and before that he’ll continue to say that he’s coming back. He’s gonna avoid the Pink Head retirement tour and all the drama and distraction that comes with it.
I am not giving up on a Super Bowl title this year. Might be a long a shot, but it still could turn out to just be an unexpected 3 game win streak. I think if that happen Tom would need to consider going out on top now. Other than that I see him here next year.

Let’s say 10-6 and first round at home with Brady (with decent but not GOAT stats) vs 14-2 and 1 seed and good defense with Nick Foles whom we traded for.

but if we had a kick ass defense, and Tom just did an Elway, I don't see why we would be 4-12?

That is what I am saying, Jimmy will fine.
We don't know that. Jimmy might never be able to stay healthy. Every player is different.

Did I miss something? How does one equal the other?
You said you are willing to go down in flames with Tom as the QB as long as he finishes his career here.

I assume you are ok with a 4-12 season as long as Tom is your Qb.

If presented an alternative outcome, I would take a winning season without Tom than a losing season with him.

Its a hypothetical. If we are staring 4-12 in the face no matter what, then i'd rather have Tom.

If we are 4-12 with Tom but 14-2 without him and hes say on the Cardinals, I'll take 14-2

I'd be interested to see how many people have changed their minds on that. I know there was quite a strong contingent of Pats fans on here who said they would rather see the team go down with the ship after Brady declines instead of releasing him or trading him to another team. That's easy to say when the team is winning Lombardi trophies in two out of three seasons but I would be interested to see if opinions have changed on that as of late.

You posted somewhere else about fans quitting on the team when it was 1992. I remember 1992 and the other horrific seasons after 1981 this franchise has endured. They sucked.

As a fan, there is nothing worse than hopelessness. Sure, watching the games is entertaining but KNOWING your team will most likely lose and not make the playoffs really is a killer. It sucks the life out of you. I'm not sure the fans born in the mid-80s and afterwards really know how awful from September to December a 2-14 season really is. Love Tom but no thanks. I'm not going though that.

If a winning season and being a contender means Tom can't be here, so be it.

My opinion is I would never want to see Brady do any worse that the worst season he has already had, 9-7, and frankly don't want him falling even that low. I want his overall winning games to be the most remembered thing about him.

But I don't think Brady would ever be the reasons why the Pats suck that bad. So often we hear that Brady is carrying the team. We are 10-5 this year and likely seed 2, even during this "down" year".

I think we could become a running team with a strong defense and still have Brady running the offense, handing the ball off, taking his shots, putting us into the right plays, even with an entirely different style. I would welcome it.

The quarterback has been average in every sense of the word even BEFORE his "injury". He ranked middle of the pack in everything...lets not kid ourselves into thinking this "injury" turned him into Chad Pennington....I've been saying it all season, the lack of red zone td production is a direct result of the quarterback and his inability to function near the goal line. McDaniels has been run, run, run in the red zone - why? Even when the tight end was respectable it was run, run, throw away in the end zone...Christ, even when he was playing well - 1st half Miami, the quarterback missed a wide open Hogan in the end zone by about 10 yards...Brady made this pass in his sleep....when he used to participate in the voluntary workouts

How this for perspective. From 1960 to 2002, 11 wins was the most in a season in the history of the NEP. Now its a down year. LOL.

I really think that's Bills plan. Have Tom around as long as he can man the position as a productive level, be affordable and make up for the lack of a dynamic offense but running the ball and have a solid defense.

Right now, you are, by far, the lamest troll on this site.

Yeah, I think if it was clear that Brady has declined, I'd say go ahead and jettison him and start planning for the future. I don't think that's anywhere near clear right now. But then again, as you know, I've "quit on the team."

Yep and even though Tom might be dinged up, I'm not seeing any reason to dump him.

I have no idea why you are getting killed for what you said. You are down on their chances. So what?
