DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION The Official NFL Draft Day 2 thread

I wouldn't bother making the attempt unless I could come up with hardcopy proof that someone else was looking to take the kid before I'd have been able to get another pick (whether with the next pick in the round or via a trade down of the 48th pick) and could couple that with some very strong arguments as to what almost every other scout seemed to have missed. This is one of those picks where the team is either right and brilliant, or channeling Al Davis.

So I'm wondering if you've been a little hard on those who put the other teams looking at him for a rationalization. Of course we can't now that at this hour but I think we're all trying to figure this out and channeling Al Davis is the more extreme view don't you think?

What's so frustrating about today is that if followed such a fulfilling and exhilarating yesterday. I am really pissed I skipped my evening walk so I could watch the 2nd round. A complete waste of a beautiful evening.

With a 3rd now in hand maybe BB and Reese can do a deal for Osi?

There is only ONE Gronk...and he belongs to us!!! :snob:

There are 4, one belongs to us, one to the Colts, one to the Browns, and one to Kansas State.

Devin McCourty was the 29th overall rated player in the 2010 NFL Draft Class.

What does that have to do with the initial reaction to the pick on this board, which is the point I was discussing?

Why don't you quit while your ahead because you don't know what the hell you are talking about.
Perhaps if you work on understanding what you read, it will start making some sense to you.

Seriously, read the post, without the bias of believing you can guess what is between the lines, because there is nothing between the lines.

I am sure you remember that this board was viral with the belief that McCourty was drafted because of his s/ts play, not his ability as a corner.
That Ridley was ONLY a short yardage back.
That Solder was a pick for 2012 that couldn't contribute in 2011.

Its not about ultimately being right or wrong, its that the knee jerk reaction of what kind of a player we just drafted is often way off the mark.

Positive or negative, opinions posted here about draft choices in the first 24 hours are often uninformed.

We can say the same thing about the overly positive comments about yesterdays picks.
Take both with a grain of salt.
Whichever direction it goes in, comments approaching that was the greatest pick ever or the worst pick ever, are usually uninformed.

1. I read your post. I interpreted your post correctly, and you know I did.

2. You're wildly misrepresenting much of the board with regards to McCourty.

I'd continue, but that's enough. This is a stupid argument about a really stupid argument. If you want to pretend that "But the board gets it wrong sometimes, especially when it's a first reaction!" is meaningful, you go for it. The rest of us will realize that it's meaningless.

Sanu has really fallen, hope he is still available at 90.

No, not at all.

Wilson is durable (49 out of 50 games) and tough - workout "rat" - 2 things we haven't seen enough in DBs much lately. He is a team player - moved to safety because of injuries. He can back up both corners and safeties. Hard hitter, good against the run. Here is a review I don't think I've seen here;
ProFootballWeekly.com - Draft Prospect - Tavon Wilson

I hear what you're saying, but I was able to bring in all my seedlings to protect them from tonight's cold, so it hasn't been a total wash.

It was posted earlier. I don't understand BB picking him so high especially given the last sentence of the report.

Now I understand why BB traditionally tries to avoid big gaps between draft picks. It's because in the lulls, discussion devolves into arguments about which arguments we're arguing about.

Amazingly we can still land Boykin (maybe)

Who will win the training camp battle, Ross Ventrone or Tavon Wilson.

My money's on Ventrone.
