Sancheeze is gonna be killed with no RT.

jets picked who? haha hes a core STer according to NFL network

I think it's safe to say that most of us are willing to trust BB's talent evaluation (not that he hasn't made mistakes), and that Wilson might be a pretty decent player. The issue, for me anyway, is that BB drafted a kid in the SECOND ROUND who, according to virtually every single so-called "expert", wasn't supposed to go until the 6th or 7th round.

I would think that a guy that pretty much everyone had going late (if at all) would have been available with the #30 pick in the 2nd round, and that the Pats could have used their first 2nd rounder on Kendall Reyes, Jerel Worthy, Devon Still, Peter Konz, Vinny Curry, Rueben Randle, or any number of other guys that could have been very useful to the Pats and *STILL* have gotten Wilson with their last 2nd rounder.

Obviously BB really likes the kid and felt that he would be gone by then or he wouldn't have made the pick at that point, but it's not unreasonable for us fans to scratch our heads over that one, even those of us that think BB is a really good drafter.

If you were charged with rationalizing the wisdom of this pick what would your argument be for it?

I wouldn't bother making the attempt unless I could come up with hardcopy proof that someone else was looking to take the kid before I'd have been able to get another pick (whether with the next pick in the round or via a trade down of the 48th pick) and could couple that with some very strong arguments as to what almost every other scout seemed to have missed. This is one of those picks where the team is either right and brilliant, or channeling Al Davis.

i hope you all realize that 80% of this draft is not going to amount to anything. just look at some of the past draft classes. so just because the pats don't take the guy on Mel Kiper's Best Available List doesn't mean anything.

Like 1987 all over again

Lets not forget, we wasted a 1st rounder on a special teamer in 2010.
Devin McCourty was the 29th overall rated player in the 2010 NFL Draft Class.

#17 last year on a guy who couldn't play as a rookie because he wasn't strong enough to play
Nate Solder was rated the 23rd overall rated player in the 2011 NFL Draft Class.

wasted a 2nd in 2010 on a guy who couldn't play because he missed his Sr year with back surgery
Rob Gronkowski was rated the 47th overall player in the 2010 NFL Draft Class.

4th on a TE who is too small and a pot head.
Aaron Hernandez was the 84th overall rated player in the 2010 NFL Draft Class.

Do we really want to put any stock in the kneejerk reactions of posters on this board to draft choices?
Why don't you quit while your ahead because you don't know what the hell you are talking about.

LOL! Jets fans laughed at the Pats' WTF pick and then the Jets respond with their own WTF pick.

All things Considered, Liking our draft so far...

I actually just got back from a funeral (I know a funeral on Friday night) and saw that the Jets took Hill.

My working theory is that the Jets figure that when Sanchez throws off the mark Hill would have run the wrong route and end up in the same place as the ball.

haha kudos

I'm sorry but if you call Tavon Wilson anything other than a tremendous reach at #48 your just not being honest. There is nothing available to you as an average fan that dictates otherwise.

There is nothing in his numbers that indicate potential playmaking ability (2 int in his career) He was not invited to the combine, all his workout numbers are either dwarfed or were exceeded by other available safeties. All the write-ups I've read thus far basically say what you see is what you get. Limited range, average to below average ball skills. He is quick to the action so he will break up the pass, but couldn't make plays on the ball. We have that already, No?

This is a def wait and see pick. Well, they all are technically but this means that gregory is our starting FS for the 2012 season with McCourty spelling him in sub.

Nothing in that piece suggests a need for the Patriots to take him when they did.

The fact that Atlanta picked 5 after our pick suggests to me that if they were planning to take him there - he wouldnt have been there at 62.

It's the draft. Everyone is often wrong, including every expert, so-called expert, and admitted non-expert. That's a given, and that's indisputable. So, if that's your point, why bother making it?

Seriously, read the post, without the bias of believing you can guess what is between the lines, because there is nothing between the lines.

I am sure you remember that this board was viral with the belief that McCourty was drafted because of his s/ts play, not his ability as a corner.
That Ridley was ONLY a short yardage back.
That Solder was a pick for 2012 that couldn't contribute in 2011.

Its not about ultimately being right or wrong, its that the knee jerk reaction of what kind of a player we just drafted is often way off the mark.

Positive or negative, opinions posted here about draft choices in the first 24 hours are often uninformed.

We can say the same thing about the overly positive comments about yesterdays picks.
Take both with a grain of salt.
Whichever direction it goes in, comments approaching that was the greatest pick ever or the worst pick ever, are usually uninformed.

I guaranteed Fleener to Indy, interesting to see that they went TE again to start the 3rd. I remember hearing something about this being a copy-cat league.

how many teams are trying to find the next Gronk???? lol

Ronnell Lewis or Jamell Fleming. Then Jarius Wright in the 5th and I'll be content.

Some of these Third round picks are Seventh rounders or not there at all.

Now, I understand why BB was so aggressive in the First, it was that or get nothing. This draft seems worse than 2007.

Clearly you weren't on the board for the past 2 drafts because those comments he posted were comments that were heard ON THIS BOARD at the time of the draft.

You can go look them up, but it's the truth..

Quit beating the **** out of scarecrows.

They actually got the top 2 TEs in the draft in Fleener and Allen. Which is really surprising, honestly.
