If any one of the three will suffice, then that would make me a charter member. I defended his making the team prior to the KC game (on the grounds that Belichick knows a whole lot more about who's capable of QBing his team than I do), but I didn't defend him in the preseason and was admittedly surprised when he made the team.

I am amazed at how few Patriots fans are willing to admit this.

To steal a poker term (even tho poker blows) I'm All In.

1) Defended Cassel's performance in the pre season;
2) Predicted he would make the team; or
3) Defended his making the team prior to the KC kick off.
I suppose there are some that think that by doing one or more of the above
they are something special ... have special insight or something.

How anyone could believe, base on pre-seaon performance or even the
on the KC game, that Cassel is gold?

Nothing Cassel had done prior to KC game was worthy of any sort of
prediction that he would be a good NFL starter and thus a good backup QB.
Why? because he never started and also the times he has had playing
scrubs in the late rounds of an NFL game was not awe inspiring.
prior to the KC game his NFL stats show a QB that
... gets as many Ints and TDs ( this is good?)
... had a QB rating less than 70
... gets sacked 1 out of 10 times ( almost as bad as David Carr )

put that together with a less than inspiring pre-season showing and
and I really wonder how these members could be so insightful.

So I would just like to know the reasons anyone would have had to
have done any of the three things required for this dumb
membership thing besides " In BILL WE TRUST " reason.

( there are 22 "members" that should be able give some good reasons )

I am not saying Cassel will not do ok, even very well.
In fact I really hope he does very very well.

Because we were smarter than you on that particular topic.

You don't have to join if you don't want.

Because we were smarter than you.

Smart people calling themselves smart ... what' wrong here.
I did not think you had one good reason ... you prove it.

Ehh... it was meant as a joke. It didn't look funny in print, so I altered it before you even posted. As for proving it, feel free to go back and look at the threads of the time.

ok ... funny funny

I think I've read most of what has been said here in support of Matt prior to the
KC game. To sum up
... he knows the system
... if he wasn't that good BB would have cut him before now.
... :blahblah::blahblah:

But I'm talking reasons ... not conjectures.
Again his stats and limited performances give no reason I can see
to defend or support him as a starting quality QB prior to the KC game.

Now we have a glimmer of hope ... but still I still need some time to
know for sure.
( i am not expecting Brady performance but I need to see the offense
under his leadership making sustained drives and scoring against some
good teams )

Some of us liked him from his first pass in OTA. We swore that if Cassel were cut that Norm CHow (then OC of Titans) would snap him up, causing Andy Johnson and others to refer to us as Casselites.

We also corrected everyone who called him Cassell (about everyone back then).

BUT, we'll find out who the REAL Matt Cassel fans are the first game he loses by tossing three pics in the fourth quarter. We (the Casselites) will tell anyone who will listen that, hey Brady throw FOUR in his first loss in 2001, so Cassel would actually be ahead of Brady in that regard.

p.s. You all do realize that Cassel threw a TD in the game where Brady was hurt, right? That Brady did not throw one in the game where Bledsoe was hurt? In fact, Brady didn't throw a TD until his FOURTH game (third start).

So I'd say that win or lose on SUnday, Cassel gets a bye as he is WAY ahead of Brady's 2001 season.

No, that's not what you're talking about at all. People gave reasons. People saw what you did not, so you insist that what they saw doesn't fall under 'reasons' when it does.

Qualified, schmalified. All I care about is Jets defeats at the Pats' hands (preferably severe). The first time Cassel participates in such will be the moment he earns my eternal gratitude and affection. Let it be tomorrow

Where is the "I'll have his babies if he leads us to a SB.. his wife be damned" option?

I support Matt but am not totally sold that he's the answer for the balance of this season. He's still an unknown quantity, my "jury" is still out.

Ditto ten char

Well, first stop talking and start listening. You'll learn soon enough.

Biggest mistake everyone made was mis-analyzing preseason games.

Second biggest is saying that because he hasn't played meaningful minutes he can't be any good.

His flaws are staring down receivers and holding the ball a bit too long sometimes.

Working in game situations should help him tremendously. SHould.

He will come out of the a GREAT QB, or be nothing.

I firmly believe he will be a starter for another team next year if the Pats don't franchise him.

I love this I support you but have no faith in you (or apparently your genius HC and his staff who kept you here for 4 years) because you didn't score in the preseason rationale...

And this yeah, sure we won with you last week but you still didn't start in college crap...

People, we watch games on TV with no clue who was supposed to do what... Bill grades them all on coaches film after every performance, including practices, based on what they did, what their teamates did and what opponents did. Learn to evaluate them with that at least in mind... Gutierrez didn't progress sufficiently in Bill's thoroughly informed opinion which is the only one with any real basis. This is the same guy who kept Brady around, moved him up past the immortal Damon Huard and replaced Drew Bledsoe with him when he was healthy...He's picked up vets when he felt he needed one, and apparently he doesn't now.

Get over yourselves. Bill's forgotten more about football than any of us will ever know.

President's gold.

After Pre season i thought he should have been cut but after KC im fully commited that Matt Cassel can lead this football team.
