Cassel,

Is it your guarantee?

I'll take your 3 as long as we play against 3 'good' teams such SD, Denver, and Indy.

Gotta love how some of you quantify 'good': SD is reeling at 2-3, Denver has no defense and Indy would be 0-4 had not two thoroughly incompetent jag QB's handed them back those games.

Where have all the "cut Cassel, sign a vet" threads gone? Long time passing?

They lurk in the weeds waiting for an off game. Notice how quickly the Maroney bashing threads came back despite how well he at the end of last season.

Oh yeah? How about 3?

How about Matt looking good and winning against a team that might actually have a chance to make the playoffs before we continue to bump this thread every week??

Kansas City - New York Jets - San Francisco 49ers

Wow - Those 3 are Super Bowl championship caliber teams aren't they?

San Diego becomes the first real test for Mr. Cassel and if he has any talent to beat the big boys of the AFC - 3 Wins against pathetic poorly coached teams with opposite QBs like a 38 year old washed up Favre,a former practice squad player in O'Sullivan and big bad Brodie Croyle and Duane Huard is NO indication at this time if he is good enough to take this team to the next level this year - With the early cakewalk schedule its time to finally face teams that actually have a shot to win it all starting this week.

If he can play well enough against the DL of San Diego and they win I am sure more people will raise thier confidence in him a bit - I am not dumb enough to rate him anything above mediocre until an actual good team is beaten.

So you are actually saying that you don't expect Indy,SD to be good down the road and make the playoffs this season? - You have got to be joking

So beating the Chiefs,49ers and Jets and losing to the Dolphins is much more impressive?

Lets face it... NO team in the AFC outside of Tennessee is anything but looking beatable at this early point in the season and I even think Tennessee will come down to reality soon.

Its total Parity in the AFC this season but Indy and SD will still be well in the playoff picture come January and have a shot like many other teams will have including New England - THATS A GUARANTEE

SD should have been 3-2 if the REF didn't screw up in a Denver game.
Texan should have won if the QB didn't fumble the ball twice.

I picked the two because ' a supposed SB SD' and Ind are defeated by a 'backup' QB. I would love to see PM's head down after a loss and I'm tired of hearing how good SD is on their radio constantly.

I have no choice because I live in CA.

I know you are in bad mood cause your premise that a Cassel led offense is incapable of scoring more than 21 points was at least 9 points wrong! But that is just too bad. Some of us are actually happy when the team does well.

Lets play Wheel Of Fortune....

There is no Vanna White to turn the letters over for you so I hope you can get it right or ask mommy to help you if you can't figure it out.

Who knows what to make of young Matt Cassell?

I admit I was a hater in pre-season, and couldn't believe they kept him.

But, as has happened so many times before, the coaches were right and I was wrong. Brady goes down in the first game and we need someone who knows the system and Cassell was our best opiton!

Honestly, I am rooting for the kid now and I have come around from stone cold to to lukewarm on him.

He has shown flashes of potential, and his teammates seem to have confidence in him. Those are good things.

Two things I would like to see him improve upon:

1) He tucks the ball and takes the sack too much. I realize he is trying not to throw a pick and being conservative and that's okay, but at least roll out and look down the field a little, Matt! Or dump off to Faulk or Welker for some positive yards, at least.

2) He seems confused when making reads, which ties into #1, also. I am sure this will improve as he gets more comfortable. Also, I have to remind myself that I have been spoiled by Brady, who has to be one of the best QBs I have ever seen at making reads and picking the right guy!

As far as his picks, the first pick was not his fault. The ball was deflected.

But that underthrown Moss pick was ALL MATT. He gets over the top of coverage on that, it's another 6. Moss almost broke his ankles breaking stride to try and come back and prevent the pick.

All that said, the kid is 3-1, so I can't really complain. I lay the Dolphin loss on the defense and not making adjustments to contain Ronnie Brown.

I feel like Cassell will develop as the season goes on. I am hoping so, anyway!

I am not ready to jump on the Cassell Fan Club or the Cassell Bust Wagon just yet! (The Maroney Bust Wagon, on the other hand, has just left the building!)

Cassell has a long way to go before he achieves the coveted "Earl Morrall / Jeff Hostetler / Frank Reich" status! (That would be backup QBs who stepped in for superstar starters and their clubs did not miss a beat!)

You can still count me a charter member of the Steve Grogan and Tom Brady fan clubs, though!

I know you think the San Francisco 49ers are the NFLs toughest team and you are happy and congratulations on the great victory over the next 2008 SB champion 49ers - it was impressive

I myself will be more excited when the team beats a team that will be better than 6-10 this year - you hold onto the happiness that comes from beating the sisters of the poor,I will wait till we beat a 6'3" bully down and not a 4'3" midget like tough ol' SF,KC and the Jets.

Lets hope your ****iness continues after the SD game next week because it would mean they won or you will probably go into hiding and not post smartass threads that show pure childishness.

Funny how I don't quite remember any ****y posts from you following the bashing by the fish 2 weeks ago - Funny how most trolls hide out when the Pats win and many Homers hide out when the Pats lose

You suck as a fan. A win is a win. You act like the win doesn't count.
If we had played in a tough division we likely wouldn't have gone 16-0 last year. Now our division is better and we're breaking in a new QB. Every game is a fight.

Don't your requirements for quality match-up's have to make KC better for handing out a beating to a "quality team"? Or is "flukey win" the ace in your hole?

Next week if we win you'll complain that it was because the Bolts are in shambles. You simply don't like being happy, do you?

Find a post where I claim the 49ers are going to win the SB But my prediction for the SB winner is the NEP, not the SF.

You know which teams are going to go 6-10 this year. Just like you know that a Cassel led offense is incapable of scoring more than 21 points.

Actually I did post after the fins loss. Pointing out that Tom Brady was also 1-1 after two starts.

Ah I take it back. I won't stoop to the level of bashing PATRIOTSFANINPA ever again and I feel badly that I sunk so low.

My apologies.

As a matter of fact, right now, Tennessee's scheduled opponents for 2008 currently have the worst combined record in the NFL (25-47), while the Patriots' (supposedly the easiest schedule in the NFL) are 36-36 so far, 16th in the league.

I'll be like normal fans and be happy if they skim the edge of the playoffs and make it as at least a #6 seed

I don't get a hard on when we beat a team as poor as the 49ers,I expect it,The 49ers have 3 good players and the rest suck

You might be all giddy like a high school girl with big wins against SF and a win against a team got beat 34-0 to the Panthers last week, but I look forward to more challenging obstacles like this weeks opponent in a hostile environment and a team that wants badly to knock off the team that put them out of their misery the past 2 years - Enjoy your excitement over knocking off the mighty 49ers- I want to see wins against Buffalo,Indy and SD then its time to get excited - This week is a challenge that must be met.
