NFL Cut down Date

I am sure you will all be aware of this but the NFL Cut down date is this Sunday the 30th August at 6pm Eastern Time

August 30th : Prior to , 6pm New York time , clubs must reduce rosters to a maximum of 53 players on the Active/Inactive list.

August 31st : Claiming period for players placed on waivers at the final roster reduction will expire at 1pm , New York time.

It often starts earlier than that for some players. A player or their agent can ask if the team is gonna cut them anyway to do so before the flood of players hits the wire, and if the team wants to do that player a solid, they'll do it.

We will probably start seeing it today. For one thing it clears roster space for moves like activation from PUP/NFI. And just spreads the staff workload.
