Bill's been here long enough, and has been particularly successful with finding talented UDFAs, that I believe you could construct an entire functional roster with only UDFA finds. Going through the history, here is the best roster of players that I could construct composed strictly of players who came here directly from college as UDFAs without first being with any other team. (So, for example, no Danny Woodhead since he was briefly with the Jets first).

QB Brian Hoyer, Matt Gutierrez
RB Benjarvus Green-Ellis, Brandon Bolden, JJ Taylor, DJ Foster
FB James Develin, Jakob Johnson
WR Jakobi Meyers, Kenbrell Thompkins, Chris Harper, Isiaih Zuber
TE Jacob Hollister, Zach Sudfeld
T Cole Croston,
G Joe Andruzzi, Stephen Neal, Dan Connolly, Chris Barker, Josh Kline
C David Andrews, Ryan Wendell

DT Adam Butler, Kyle Love, Woodrow Hamilton
DE Mike Wright, Joe Vellano, Keionta Davis
LB Gary Guyton, Pierre Woods, Matt Chatham, Dane Fletcher, Harvey Langi, Terez Hall, Rashod Berry
CB Malcolm Butler, JC Jackson, Jonathan Jones, Randall Gay, Justin Coleman, Kenny Moore, Myles Bryant
S Sergio Brown, Bret Lockett, Brandon King

K Robbie Gould
P Ryan Allen
LS Lonnie Paxton
KR/PR Gunner Olszewski

Did I miss anyone or include anyone who shouldn't be here? Would this roster, with every player playing at his peak, beat the Jets most years?

Added Kenny Moore and Myles Bryant. Who is KGH?

Well, it's not a playoff team, but I bet they win a couple games, which is impressive given their (lack of) draft status.

Quite a few of these guys never really did much of anything even by UDFA standards, and you probably only remember them because of a couple preseason games. I think the offense might be able to scrape out some points with the running game, but the defense would get demolished especially considering the DEs are really just DT, and there are no edge players to speak of except Berry who really hasn't done anything.

The corner room would be elite by any standards though. I don't think it would be enough to beat the Jets.

KGH is Kamu Grugier-Hill, who was not an undrafted free agent and never played a game for the Patriots.

The QB position is weak. The rest of that roster would win some games. More than the Jete and the Lions too. I bet they get close to .500.

QB - C
RB - B+
WR - C
OL - A for interior, D for tackles

DT - C
DE - D
LB - D
CB - A
S - C

K - C (with potential)
P - A
LS - A
Return - B+

It's an amazing list. It's why BB has been the best GM the last 20 years.
His success with UDFA, 6th round picks, 7th round picks, more than makes up for 10+ WR/CB high draft pick busts.

The list gets even better if you expand it to 7th rounders and 6th rounders (obviously).

BB would be unstoppable if he just stopped drafting WR/CB in the first 2 rounds ever again. Just tell mcidiot to sit outside the war room and never come in. Wolf, Groh, and Patricia have the war room fixed now.

Yeah, if someone expands the list to include sixth and seventh round picks - Brady, obviously, and guys like Jules - it probably is a playoff team.

If one includes 6th and 7th rounders, then QB becomes an A+, WR becomes an A.

So looking at this, BB should spend high draft picks on Offensive Tackles, Linebackers, Free Safeties, Strong Safeties.

He can fix every other position via his ace pickups in UDFA, 6th round, and 7th round and FA. But he needs to spend high draft capital on OT, LB, FS, SS. And completely avoid wasting draft capital on WR/CB where he sucks bad at these positions (after changing his dad's draft scouting methods in 2004 at these 2 positions).

.

How about 8th rounders (see profile pic)?

Izzo played for the fins before coming here...

Took out Izzo. Added Woodrow Hamilton and Keionta Davis and put in Robbie Gould for Quinn Nordin.

He needs to dip MORE for WRs after the draft.....

He’s drafted 1 wr in the first round and 2 in the 2nd in 21 years.
